This update broke custom filaments that were created before the whole high flow nozzle stuff was added into Bambu Studio, and it’s not possible to fix in the program without recreating the filament profile.
I’ve attached screenshots for example, but to explain further, I’d created some filament profiles in the past off of x1c profiles for things like Polymaker filaments that had profiles available for the x1c but not the H2D. Those profiles show up in Studio without the Standard/High Flow drop down/tab switcher, and there’s no way to convert the filament profile. It just shows up even in studio 2.5 looking like this:
Studio 2.4 was okay with this, it would just allow that profile to be used with high flow nozzles, and since I never used standard flow nozzles for those filaments, it worked fine for me.
Now though since 2.5, if I try and slice with that same profile it hard errors out.
Recreating all these profiles is annoying and I have dozens of profiles that are affected by this change. Either the UI should have a way to add nozzle type differentiation to an existing profile, or some form of migration tool should be provided, before the slicer goes into a hard enforcing mode like this without any warning that profiles will suddenly stop working and need to be recreated by hand.
As it is I’m thinking I’ll have to go write a python script or something to just duplicate all the appropriate fields in the JSON and add “Direct Drive High Flow” as a supported extruder type. But it’d be much appreciated if this were fixed in the slicer, and if breaking changes like this in the future were announced in advance.
I’m guessing this enforcing change was added to make it so things that really shouldn’t touch a high flow nozzle like TPU can be blocked from doing so?
