I have these 2 nozzles, both supposedly are 0.4. Why are they different?
The 1 with the 3 holes is a CHT High Flow Nozzle.
I wanted to make a joke about one has one hole and the other has three holes, but even I feel it was stupid.
Right, back to the question.
The three hole one splits the filament as it extrudes into three parts, the surface area combined that touches the metal now is far greater than it would be in one piece.
The result is a much faster transfer of heat to filament , the benefit of this is a faster heat transfer and thus, faster potential print speeds as the filament can melt and extrude far faster.
It must work with a printer capable of delivering the increased speed. Not all printers have the mechanical speed to physically move the head around to match the theoretical top speed.

No, it splits one filament into 3 channels to increase the “melt capacity” and volumetric flow.
