50,000 Hours at 40 °C – But What Happens at 65 °C?

Too bad bambu doesnt sell any. The oil they sell is “5%-10% additives”. The other 90% is hydrocarbon alkaline.

This is all I could find for what bambu suggests.

Bambu Lab recommends using the Bambu Lab Lubricant Oil or a high-quality sewing machine oil (like Vaseline Oil) for ball bearings. For linear guides and trapezoidal rods, the company recommends the Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease that is often included, and also suggests Super Lube 52004 Synthetic Lightweight Oil for performance improvements."

I asked simply for clarification, I have a tiny habit of adding a bit more “Bambu oil” to my rails, hoping that this alone wasn’t responsible for sliding, not rolling.

Keep in mind that the bearings normally have some kind of lubricants in them.
If that would be grease and you start adding oil instead, you could wash away the grease and therefore making it worse.

The heat resistance of PTFE is no guarantee that this is the best solution for a particular bearing.

I agree 100%. I only oil them if they make noise.

Aside from the fact that most fans are hidden in every Bambu Lab printer, two incompatible oils can coagulate and make things even worse. If a system is already lubricated, you need to be sure that the oil you are using is compatible. One unlucky guy actually gummed up his gun at the range – it was a real pain to get it cleaned and back into working condition :joy:

Like I’ve said before, the easiest solution (it’s a shame one is needed, but it is what it is) is to buy the new add on fan that the Pro and H2C uses, and when the internal original fan fails, it could be disabled in firmware and the new add on will take over its job. I’m assuming here that that new add on fan could keep the hot ends just as cool as the original one does. After all it’s just blowing air over the hot end heat sinks, and the new fan looks to be as capable as the original.

The bearings in a BambuLab printer certainly do not reach temperatures that would require PTFE-based lubricants. However, PTFE-based silicone grease is a good option for lubricating your printed parts because, unlike regular oils, it does not attack filament plastics.

In my waste bin I use dry PTFE to add a slippery surface :grin:

Just a guess, but based on bambu recommending a synthetic, 5-10% additive oil for roller bearings, that there bearings are probably oiled. I dont think they are rubber sealed, so you would never be able to grease them once assembled. So, i guess its oil or squeaks after a certain point

In any case, having to disassemble the entire machine every time you want to apply this is completely impractical.

I’m currently dealing with an issue with the hot-end fan - it keeps showing a chamber temperature of 65 degrees, and the fan is making more noise with noticeable resistance when you try to turn it
