A problem with spools getting tangled

First, I will apologize now for posting in the H2 series forum with my issue but, although I purchase a P1S in July somehow I am here but I cannot post in the P1 series and I don’t understand why.

So, some how the spools in the AMS snag on the spool sides and causes print errors if I don’t correct the issue on the spot. The spools in question were printed by me using PETG and were down loaded from Maker World. The filaments are two brands, Jayo and Mars Work. I have yet to try a Bambu Lab or Sunlu refill. Both Jayo and Mars Work say they are compatible with Bambu Lab replacement spools.

I think when a color change occurs and these filaments are being rewound into the spool. As the filament rides the spool side the tugging force causes the filament to slide down the spool wall enough for the filament to be pinned tightly and the tangle begins.

Dimensional wise, the printed spools check to be accurate to Bambu Lab and Sunlu spools. I used PETG because of higher temperature range in filament dryers.

About the refills, the method that seems to work the best is to massage the filament out towards both sides of the spool after you have made sure the spool is locked firmly in to place.

That appears to work! I at P1 earlier and while I could not select P1 I could post in the new P2S but not P1S until now.

Would it be a fair assesment to say its trying to respool from its original path ?
if you judged by the four spools i have loaded ,with the orange spool being wonky

that is also with the original white ptf tube in the ams which means a long route there and back

Jayo brand very specifically loves their “1.1kg” rolls, which are overstuffed, and sometimes have trouble spooling and respooling at the beginning. I find they work great in an AMS lite (a1) but if they need to ride on rollers… maybe they need the first 250g drained somehow else

Number 4 looks the closest. I had a different issue today where about 6 hours into a 7 hour print I got an error message from Bambu Handy that the MarsWork PLA did a number 4 and gave an error. I pulled all the jammed filament away from the spool wall, then tried to rewind it. Restarted and it began printing where it left off. I keep an eye on everything, navigating the filament to the center away from the sides until the print finished.

I’m going to try the suggested massage method.

Can i also suggest you preload the ams before turning the printer on , if you dont already , the way it checks what filament you have on a spool may also help with any side wall issues as the grey one shows , which is left loose enough that i can just move it over slightly, before any printing continues .
