So I have a Bambu A1 w/ the AMS Lite and I’ve had it since Dec. 24’. Its got a little over 2200hrs on it.
So a few weeks ago I started having a problem with the filament not wanting to load all the way into the nozzle. It would pass thru the AMS filament hub and thru the extruder gears and would stop 5mm into the top of the nozzle and give me an error msg. #1200-8007-080723, saying “Failed to extrude the filament. This might be caused by clogged extruder or stuck filament. Yadda Yadds”. I’ve shortend and checked my ptfe tubes for any kind of drag or kinks of exsessive bends and the tubes are fine. I’ve torn down the AMS Filament Hub and the AMS Sensor and switch housing and even replaced them along with the filament sensor with brand new ones. My extruders gears look fine there’s no broken bits in the gears and no clogs in the nozzle either. I can manually push the filament into the nozzle and it will go in just fine and come out just fine. I can manually press the extruder button and the filament will come out just fine. I’ve turned off and on the filament tangle detection mode to no avail. I’ve switched nozzles and still get the same error code. Any time it tries to load it gives that error. I have a new extruder head but I’m not sure that will work either. Bambu Tech is horrendously slow at returning messages and not being of any help either as of yet. I’m at my wits end as I’m about to through this machine out of my window. Anyone that has had this issue and that’s fixed it or knows what’s going on please hit me up on here and enlighten this old mans mind. Thank you and I wish you the best day.
Where are you at firmware-wise? If you’re on the newest try rolling back to the previous one… or updating to the newest if you’re not. I know it seems unlikely but it will eliminate one more possible problem.
I am assuming “come out just fine” means that molten filament successfully leaves the nozzle, not that it retracts fine
Does the printer work WITHOUT the ams? That’s an entirely valid configuration, and is worth a try to rule some things out.
As well, Try removing the 4-to-1 ams hub (leave the little spring to act as a shitty-filament-guide for this test, or remove it and otherwise manage sane feeding off the spool). Feed the filament by hand enough to get the extruder to hold onto it. Send a print. Does it still fail?
I have updated the new firmware to 1.06 or whatever the newest is now and I’ve downgraded to the previous and I had the same issue on both. I just now replaced the extruder head with a new one and it’s running a calibration at this moment.
I have not tried to run without the AMS. Also yes when I mean “came out fine” is I physically pushed the filament thru the extruder and into the nozzle to where it came out melted like it should but with no retraction. I just now replaced the extruder head with a new one and it’s currently running a calibration as of right now. If this don’t fix it then I’ll try bypassing the AMS and see what the deal is there.
Well it seems that by replacing the extruder head on the Bambu A1 has solved my filament issue of not loading. So now I can get back to making money again lol. I appreciate everyone’s help thank you.
