I have an A1 and it’s extruder suddenly startet to click.
I already disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the extruder. The gears (that transport the filament) look a little worn out, but should be ok.
While printing a brim it looks fine, but the first layer of the object is terrible. (See attached video).
Is the clicking from the gear, or do I need to replace the Motor?
I already tried different filament, different Plates, different settings, different nozzle. All look the same.
As i remember correctly i updated the firmware before the clicking, but i doubt this anything to do with it, but i will downgrade it.
Clicking/back driving is when not enough filament can leave the nozzle as is being pushed. It can be a partial clog, but on the first layer it’s usually the z Offset detection placing the nozzle too close to the plate.
In order of likelyhood:
Check in slicer you don’t have any strange things like bottom surface flow ratio 5x or whatever
Check the a1 nozzle holder screws. Google for tutorial if you need, but its the black block the nozzle clips onto. Remove 3 screws, fold down towards you, check the 4 screws on the reverse side, reassemble
Clean and regrease z screws, especially down near where z=0 is
Let that print go for a little bit and see what happens on layers 2,3,etc. if it is always awful, address it like a partial clog in the nozzle. Cold pull, replace, etc.
Check plate and bed for damage or stuckon plastic that might be causing irregularities and bad autocalibration
Check that nozzle is actually getting heat. Your brum printed so really unlikely this
