A1 freezes

Detailed description of the problem

  • Printer model used. A1
  • Slicer settings used basic from MakerWorld
  • Type of filament used Bambu basic
  • Photos that clearly show the problem

So the last 3 days every time I try and print something on my A1 it freezes like this and will sit for hours. I’ve tried several different files but no luck.

I have done a complete calibration. I have reformatted the SD card in the A1, I have replaced the SD card and formatted it in the A1. There isn’t any warnings up to this point. I’ve seen quite a few other people with the same issue. What’s going on?

I had the same problem two days ago. It seems it is firmware related… The last firmware(1.0.6.0) has some bugs… I downgrade back to an earlier firmware via the Handy app. you can do that.
I was printing with a 0.2 Nozzle which is complete burned, because the heating goes on even when the printer is stopped, be carefull. Also check your nozzle house after removing the Nozzle, inside is a lot of melted plastic, you need to remove that too.Anyway, still working on Calibration. Can’t get it oke here. Good luck with all. cheers…

I had the same problem. A1 freezes in printjob nothing happens but also no error messages. Restarted job but same result. Restarted printer and tried benchy as test. same result.
Then I tried reset to factory settings but now I’m in an endless loop running the initial setup. After the whole procedure of choosing language and region, setup wifi and calibration I get back the welcome screen to start the setup.

Help appreciated,

Filip Maryns

When you’re on the screen, select Wi-Fi and link the printer with the Bambu Handy app. Then, from the app, perform a firmware update to version 01.04.00.00. That should solve both of your problems. I did the same as you and ran into the same issue. In my case, I updated to version 01.03.00.00, but other users mention that with version 01.04.00.00, the freezing issue is already resolved.

Thanks,
But first, I am already at firmware 01.06.00.00 and second, as it is looping the setup procedure, I don’t get the option to connect with the bambu app. After the wifi setup it is calibrating and the app states the printer is offline and after the calibration it shows back the welcome screen and the printer is forgotten all settings.

Ok, but I’m telling you to downgrade to firmware 01.04.00.00 because firmware 01.06.00.00 is causing issues — several of us have experienced printer freezes with that version.

On the other hand, in my case, when doing the initial calibration, I get the option to connect to Wi-Fi and then scan a QR code to link the Bambu Handy app. I don’t understand why that option doesn’t appear for you. When it asks you to do the first calibration, try leaving the screen untouched for a while — in my case, after some time it automatically switches to the home screen. If that happens, try linking the app and updating.

I downgraded to 01.05, then 01.04, the back to 01.03.01.02 and it works as good as Gold Digger does (my A1 is a hot mess)

I was on the 01.06 like you

Thanks Digware,

I finally arrived to downgrade the firmware. I did scan the QR-code the first time I run the setup but then it didn’t connect for some reason so I skipped that part with some later loops.
As you mentioned it again I scanned it again and now it did connect, so I was able to downgrade (to 01.04) and it seems to work again.
