A1 Freezing mid Print

Had the same issue and it was going spaghetti when resuming prints. For anyone in the same boat who needs to print in the mean time disconnecting from WiFi is the work around that has worked for me.

The process I’ve been using is:

  • Slice and send model from studio to printer
  • Wait for the print to download on the printer
  • Cancel the print before it starts properly
  • Turn WiFi off
  • Start print from SD card
  • Turn WiFi back on to send another print
  • Rinse and repeat

You can also just export the print from studio to an SD card but I didn’t have an SD card reader handy. Or you can use FTP to transfer the print but sending the print and turning off WiFi was the easiest for me so far.

It’s let me keep printing with no blobs, pauses or failures while they work it all out.

It doesn’t feel like a hardware fault given that so many previously functioning printers suffer the same issue all at once. But we’ll have to wait and see.

Same thing here, but my A1 is 8 months old whit a new Heat bed. I just got a AMS Lite and since I started using it that weard mod-print-stop occurred…so I was thinking it was AMS related but even if a disconnect it und just let it sit there it happens again…so I opened a ticket und I was trying to upload rhe Logs but every time I tried the upload was canceled due the issue.
But I managed somehow and now waiting for a response from Bambu.

I’ve already posted here with the “mid-print” pause problem. I found my printer this morning completely frozen mid-print. I had all camera recordings off (and the blinking red recording light was indeed off during printing), I’ve also had WiFi switched off during printing and the problem persists. What was interesting this morning as the printer was frozen when I tried to eject the SD card it would not (i.e. the memory values of the card in terms of the size of the card and how much is occupied) did not go to 0/0 as is normal once the card is ejected. This suggests that at least for me the problem is an SD card read/write problem… (and not WiFi or cloud or nefarious third party).

In my case. During printing, the printer freezes and restarts approximately every 30 minutes. After restarting, the error HMS_0500-0300-0001-0002 appears for a few seconds , after which printing resumes.(I think this is initialization after an error, and it’s not related to the problem). I’ve checked and reconnected all the wires inside the printhead, they’re fine. I reconnected the type-c cable, reset the settings to factory settings, reinstalled the firmware (downgraded and then updated), tried the previous firmware, replaced the sd card twice - nothing helps.

The problem I have is still there, during printing, the head moves to the right, then goes to the bottom, then starts again, but in the meantime, the axis shifts, I hope it is a software problem.

Printer does it normally, it’s not that issue described here

I just got a reply from Bambu, it was a server side error and we do not need to do anything on our printers

Here is what they replied to me :

We are happy to let you know that after thorough analysis, we have identified that the issue stems from a recent auto-update to our cloud service’s certificate, which leads to possible printer reboots. The problem has been quickly solved by our team, and everything should run as expected. No other action is required from your side, as this has been a server side problem and the printer can be used again with confidence. If you are looking to get more information about this issue, we have explained it in this post. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we work to completely resolve this matter promptly.Should you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.Thank you for your understandingBambu Lab

Have the same issue after having my printer for 2 days, definitely not ideal straight out of the box.

Going to add myself to the list. I’ve had my A1 since Jan 2024. Been printing PLA flawlessly for months. However, in the past 3-4 weeks it has now frozen mid-print 4 times. Print head has oozed out some filament and it’s stuck to the print, nozzle temp has dropped and fan is running high non stop. Can’t stop the print via BS and the A1 says “print has finished” when it clearly has not. Only option is to turn the A1 off/on, and restart BS. No clue why this keeps happening.

I just updated my A1 Mini firmware when prompted and the next 8 hour print I did froze after 7 and a half hours - I was just about to cancel the print when it resumed. Fortunately it froze in the infill and only left a tiny hole in my model when it re started with no layer shift.
I did not get any printer freeze issues before the firmware update.
This could potentially cause a major print failure and I will be watching my next few prints closely - (just not with the A1 mini inbuilt camera)

I have just tried to print a poop bin and the printer and app both say that it has fully completed the print but the print is only partly finished and has stopped on a random layer. does anyone have any suggestions on why this might be.

Welcome to the forum.

If a print “completes” but it hasn’t printed the top part of the model it normally means that the nozzle is clogged. Are you able to manually extrude filament? Another possibility is that there could have been a problem reading the program from the SD card.

I’m having similar issues.

I’m having the same problem in the middle of printing or it stopped without printing it’s turning off. it only works by turning it off and on again did anyone manage to solve it?

Swap out the SD card for another one… Per my earlier note, the same happened to me a few times over the past few months. Since changing the card a month ago, it hasn’t happened (yet) and I’ve done 30 or so prints…

I had the same thing happen yesterday. About 98% through a print when the printer seems to have frozen, dumped a load of plastic out of the nozzle, and then came back to life and decided it had successfully completed without having actually finished.

Hello everybody,
I’m having the same exact problem since september 23. Am I the only one ? Is something wrong again by Bambu Lab ?
Regards

Unofficial potential fix- my new A1 mini froze for the first time after 10 successes. Came here for support. Sounds like some devices come back to life on their own, mind did not.

I removed and reinserted the sd card quickly as a last ditch attempt before powering off. It beeped, the screen came back on saying how disappointed it was in losing read/write to the so card, then allowed me to press resume. It’s back in action now on the original print. Can’t tell if there are minor visual issues yet.

Again, I’m sure this is not what a real Teach support person would say to do, but I was desperate.
