I tried to print and it said an sd card is required, so I went to look at the printer and it showed “error” in the settings next to SD card. Both the format and eject buttons don’t work and the capacity shows 0/0. So I plugged it into my PC to format it and the capacity showed 30mb. Both the windows explorer formatter and diskpart were unable to format it. In disk management it also shows up as a 30mb card with no other partitions. Now, it doesn’t even show up when I plug it in.
The weird part is, somehow both sd cards in my two A1s failed at the same time. One of them was the stock lexar card, the other was a sandisk extreme pro. Has anyone had this issue specifically? I would like to know what caused it. 30mb seems to be a pretty common number, although most of the threads out there are by people using it in raspberry pi’s.
If anyone knows if its possible to recover them, please share as well
I’ve not diagnosed mine further but have had SD cards die in most printers. The camera functionality flushing to disk tends to abuse SD cards, and they just fail. Grab a new cheap one and start again
Buy a new one, but if you want to try to salvage the old SD card, which I don’t recommend, but maybe as a junk card. This tool is more powerful than the operating system tools.
If nothing else works, try an old digital camera that can format SD cards. It may sound strange, but older cameras weren’t fussy about standards and would format without mercy everything, including protected bad sectors. This works 95% of the time when all other options fail, and it’s one of the reasons why I keep really old cameras.
I’ll say it again: don’t use this card for anything significant from now on - just treat it like a junk card.
