A1 Mini Issues After Blob of Doom

A friend asked me to take a look at their A1 Mini that has issues after a bad hotend blob failure. I replaced the hotend since the thermistor wires had been damaged. After cleaning everything else out, the printer is 100% intact mechanically, but has software issues now:

  1. The hotend is unresponsive and won’t heat (possibly the toolhead board is fried?)
  2. The printer won’t home because the z axis refuses to go down.

As far as I know, everything else about the printer is fine. Has anyone seen anything like this? Could both of those issues be caused by a bad toolhead board? Thanks in advance!

Well, if there was a short circuit in the wires on the heating element, then the control board on the head (extruder) could have failed. As for the Z axis, I can’t tell you anything. You’d better contact support.
