My A1 mini has been printing fine, then all of the sudden the extruder is clicking and it’s printing rough and under-extruded.
I have:
-Checked for clogs, both nozzle and extruder
-Installed new nozzle
-Updated firmware to latest
-Run calibration
-Manually trammed.
-Made sure heater screws are tight
-Run bed levelling at beginning of print
It purges just fine, but when it tries to print it drags on the bed and the extruder skips.
Worst part: I don’t know why but I decided to print the stock Benchy from the SD card. And it printed flawlessly.
I’m using Bambu stainless .4 nozzle and Bambu filament. Tried with several filaments, including right out of the dryer.
Set the normal extrusion temp, wait until the hotend reached it and manually extrude some filament, let it goop onto the plate or wherever.
Does it come out evenly or with bubbles/popping sounds?
Maybe more hard than soft?
Sometimes those heaters go bad or the compound goo went bone dry, resulting in uneven heating or getting wrong temperatures.
Thing is that if it prints fine from the SD card I suspect there is a different issue here.
So just in case slice something simple and send it to the SD to see whether or not it then prints as expected.
Something is very odd…
Try to extrude again and hold the filament.
If the extruder starts clicking or the filament is easy to stop it could be a filthy extruder - the transport wheels to be precise.
After time these grooves can fill up and then the extruder struggles to transport.
Nothing else helps ? Check the extruder…
I did what you said. Manually extruded while pulling on the filament. I can pull on it good and hard and it still pulls it in with no slipping.
I took the extruder apart and it’s completely clean.
Tried printing the test cube again and immediately the extruder skipped and no filament extruded. I’m at a total loss. I wonder if I should roll back firmware a couple versions.
I found out how to change the Z Offset so I changed it drastically…0.12, Not even a little difference. Something’s broken. I wonder if it has to do with the eddy sensor.
If you can manually extrude you should be able to print without the extruder skipping.
Does the filament come out nice and almost liquid?
Starting to wonder if you have a fault in the heater or temp sensor.
Extrudes into the air just fine. Creates perfect poop. When it goes to print, the nozzle is pressed against the plate. Nothing can come out of the nozzle. Z Offset did nothing. Manual tram, I could slide paper under the nozzle. Printing is a different story. Opening a ticket tomorrow.
I notice the nozzle is loose. On my other A1 mini the nozzle is completely tight and I can’t rock it side to side or forward.
On this A1 mini with the issue, with the clips closed all the way I can rock the nozzle back and forth easily.
The 3 heater screws are completely tight and the 4 screws on the back of the heater are tight as well.
Well, what an adventure. And the solution…improper nozzle placement. I wasn’t getting the lip to rest exactly on the “shelf.” I reseated it for the thousandth time and it was tight. Printed a perfect first layer.
