A1 mini power issue

I have a strange problem with a brand new A1 mini. Sometimes, after pressing the power button, it simply won’t turn on. There is a brief “clicking” sound (as it tries to move the bed), but nothing else happens, and the power LED does not light up. I then have to press the power button several times, and eventually it turns on as if nothing had happened. I haven’t found a pattern for this behavior yet, but I think it’s most likely to occur when the printer has been turned off for a while.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

(I checked the SD card and it appears to be fine)

Sound like the switch is bad…JMO

It could be a faulty switch. It could also be a faulty power supply. There are many possible causes.

First, check that all cables are properly connected and that the problem is not with your home’s electrical wiring. This would also be a case where you should open a support ticket once you have checked your wiring.

Try plugging the printer into a different outlet, just to rule that out 100%.

It’s definitely not the power outlet. I’ve tried several outlets, and if it were the outlet, there would also be failures when printing, etc.

I also doubt that it’s the switch. When the device is turned on, I hear a strange noise. Something is definitely going on.

I was lucky now and was able to record the behavior several times (it usually works when I try to record it).

BTW, I don’t think the strange fan noise at the end of this video is normal either?!

Update: Incidentally, it briefly consumes 30–50 W when switched on, then a constant 4.4 W. So it is definitely not a faulty switch.

Open a support ticket. Claim warranty. Have device replaced. :+1:

You can show the video to support. Well, you’re really unlucky to have gotten a defective device. Have a new one sent to you.

Hi did you ever find a solution. Mine is doing the exact same thing?

I have an A1 myself (not a mini) that has the same problem every now and then. Turn on the A1, the AMS is initialized (LEDs light up one by one), and nothing else happens. The display does not turn on. Turn off the A1, wait a moment, and turn it back on, and then everything works normally again. After various tests, it is clear that the problem is not with the SD card or the AMS. I have also gone through several firmware versions since then, and the problem persists. So, very likely not a firmware issue either. But what is it then?

I am curious about the cause and, especially, the solution.

If it doesn’t turn on after a few seconds, makes noises that are indicative of an issue, it is likely a physical fault.

Create a video like the one above, share it in a ticket with support.
