Hi iam a newbie to 3d printing ive got the A1 and had it for about 5 months now and had no serious problems so far but recently a couple of times ive had issues with a roll of filament running out and the next same colour roll not not loading properly or sticking / filament stuck error however its not tangled or anything its a brand new full 1kg roll i get the beep beep noise indicating theres a problem but because my printer is in another room i cant always here it and if i miss the icon going orange on my desktop pc i sometimes don’t see it for a while which is problematic i also have the handy app on my samsung ■■■ but again just a pop up no noise notification … so my question is twofold is there a way to turn on a notification sound on my phone ? according to my phone the app has all notifications allowed but i still get no noise … and is there an issue with my ams lite its only recently started doing this stopping saying filament is tangled or stuck when it actually isnt just maybe a little bit tight up against the the edge of the spool holder if i pull it out a bit and click resume issue solved it works is the ams lite motor failing ? apologies for being dumb im a 60yr old autistic newbie trying desperately to learn as much as i can but struggling somewhat

Question 1: I don’t know

Question 2:

  • Did you open a ticket with Bambu Lab?
  • How heavily do you run your A1?
    • PTFE tubes need to be change as follows (they get small scratches on the inside that can cause problems):
      • Heavy usage = every 1-2 months
      • Light usage = every 6 months.

hi remote no i havent opened a ticket with babmbu i thought i would ask on here first as its not a major issue just a bit of an annoying niggle i use my A1 daily probably around 10hrs then its switched off over night time i have put new bowden tubes in about 5 mths ago and my AMS is fixed to the top rail of my A1 see pic i have the tubes kind of suspended using rubber bands to prevent them rubbing on anything i dont think they are the problem as it only happens occasionally it seems to be when the spools are tightly wound i do free them when i put a new 1kg roll on a spool but occasionly the filament can be tight up against the spool it seems and causes that filament stuck after its been running for an hour once i pull it out a bit and restart it seems fine i was just wondering if the ams motor could be struggling ? or maybe im doing something wrong when loading the spool ive watched youtubes showing how to put a new roll on spool etc and ive followed everything it suggests like i say this has only occurred a few times in last month and ive had my A1 since last august 2025 i make sure i clean and lubricate maintenance regularly i only use bambu labs PLA filament and ive got a hardened steel 0.4mm nozzle and a repkacement metal extruder gear fitted both from bambu labs hope that makes sense apologies for being a bit slow im trying my best to learn more even tried getting a 3d printing course at my local college but they werent any help and i am struggling to find anything that can teach me apart from youtube i would love to find someone local who could give me some tuition especially on using fusion 360 etc

TBH,

  1. I started 3D printing about 3 months ago. But I come from a design/arts/engineering back ground with a heavy does of the material sciences. And I’m a polymath. So, it was rather easy for me to pick it up.
  2. I picked up the A1 as a learning machine. So I skipped the AMS in favor of DIY Dry Box Sytems.
  3. With my final goal being a Prusa XL to be built into my Catamarans design. Giving me the ability to create needed parts in the remote locations the i plan on sailing to and living in.

That said, I read everything that Bambu had on the A1 (But nothing on the AMS). And if i had that thing in my office, I would probably have torn it apart and seen every gear and screw before putting it back together. But that’s me.

The sticking issue… I agree, it sounds like the motor on the AMS. have you put a multimeter to it to see if it’s running within spec?

hi remote that sounds an amazing life to lead i wish you all the best i do have a little multimeter but im not really well versed on settings etc i wouldn’t know what to look for in readings if i did put it on motor i might just buy a replacement motor and put it in to be safe i appreciate your help and advice bon voyage
