I recently got my A1 (without AMS Lite) and I’m very happy with it. However, it has happened a few times now where I would check on a print and it would have stopped, with the nozzle still on the print. It has happened early on in a print but also near the end of a larger print.
Initially I thought it might have to do with the fact I had it connected to a surge protector (2000 W), but even with it plugged directly into the wall, it happened occasionally.
I am running the latest firmware (01.04.00.00) but since I read that some people have problems similar (but not identical) to my issue, I tried reverting to the previous version (01.03.00.02 I think). I did some printing and it worked ok, but when loading some new filament I saw it happen again. The printer just stops what it is doing and reboots. No error message, no sign whatsoever after the restart of what happened.
I have now upgraded to the latest version of the firmware again.
Has anyone seen this issue and know what is causing this and how to fix it before I raise this with BambuLab support?
I definitely need something sturdier although its current table isn’t too bad. In case it wasn’t clear, I get mostly great prints but every 10th or so print fails this way. Until today I didn’t see it happen and now it did but with a filament load. Nothing weird going on, no other plugs into the same wall socket. Just weird.
Looking on the SD card in BambuLab Studio it doesn’t show any indication that it thinks the print has failed or succeeded. I can’t now look on the machine itself as it is printing. In the BambuLab Handy app the prints that failed this way don’t even show up at all.
Try a new SD card in the printer. The cheap one that comes with the printer may be going bad, and if so, count yourself lucky that the only thing it’s doing is rebooting. (There are stories of folks who wind up with physical damage due to a bad SD card.)
Thanks! I’ll try that. Supposedly there is also logs on the SD card, so I’ll check that out as well. I think I have a Sandisk industrial SD card kicking around somewhere.
Since upgrading to the latest version again and doing a full calibration (I’m pretty sure I did that the first time as well, as well as after the downgrade), I have done a few smaller prints and one larger print, so far without a reboot, but I did get the screen to freeze on me. It showed the printer had 0 minutes 0 seconds left to print on 40 of 40 layers, but the print was still going and finished without issue. I did another print after that and noticed the other screen was still up. When I tried to go back to the previous screen, it wouldn’t let me… Something IS going on.
I’m not sure if it is any indication yet, but when I went to check the original SD card in my Mac, it wouldn’t show up (while it was still doing fine in the printer). My new SanDisk, though only 8GB, did show up and seems to work fine in the printer so far. Since I don’t really plan to do timelapses, etc. and I have no issue deleting models once printed, I don’t see the space on the SD card as much of an issue.
I’ll monitor this for a while and keep you all updated.
Like jma89 said you can use a new sd card and see if the problem persists. If the problem does persist the problems may start with the sd card because corrupted or broken files/gcode could break a print/halt the print completely like what you say here in this post.
