I get the increasing feeling that the A1 is a needed Unit but Bambu seems to do not much if anything.
Correct me if i am wrong or is the A1 treated like a unwanted unit. You need it to satisfy the Masses but don’t really want to do anything.
Well it works mostly, some little quirks but overall a no problem Unit.
Btw, is the AMS 2 Pro now working drying and printing?
The Bambu Lab A1 is the best selling budget consumer 3D printer in the world. For many people the A1 has been their entry into 3D printing and the Bambu ecosystem.

A1 is ~3 years old and still the apex predator of regular sized cartesian printers. Just like it was when it was introduced. Only now is there any competition even beginning to nip at its heels [kobra x] and most other mfrs produced one last cartesian clone based off the A1 and went full coreXY.

So instead of down voting and getting all hyped up to what i wrote, could someone with knowledge enlighten me if the A1 and AMS2 PRO are capable of printing and drying at the same time, or if i have to get another Sunlu s4 and a AMS mini.

You need a DC24V4A 5.5mm barrel jack power supply. Buy bambu’s fancy one or scav it from your electronic heap

You can’t write a simple - Yes it will work printing and drying
…it makes 130% certain your 90% of the time in reddit mode

Don’t get too cheap of an adapter, the cheap ones wires aren’t good enough for 4A continuous.
I wouldn’t get a cheap power supply, bambu sells one as i recall.
However with all the “yes no yes no” i’ll just get a dryer unit like the sunlu S4 and a ams lite, works like a charm since month’s.
Bambu sells one but it is twice the price for the same thing. There is nothing proprietary about their power adapter.
I got a few on Amazon for 15 USD per. Better than paying 30 per. (Plus prime shipping)

Yeah, I feel that way too. My first printer was an A1 but it had slow software, and 14 updates later, it didn’t get fixed. No new additions to the A1 series have been released so far, but in 2026, all other series have gotten at least one new addition- the P2S, the X2D, and the H2S and H2X.
Unless Bambu adds a new bedslinger to the A1 family, I wholeheartedly agree with this.
The way it read to me, he wasn’t saying the A1 didn’t do anything, but that they don’t want to do anything [with it going forward]. They keep adding features and functionality with firmware updates and accessory upgrades for the other units, but have been leaving the A1 to stagnate.
Who really knows, maybe they’ve left it alone lately because they plan to release an A2 soon!?!
The AMS 2 Pro should be working with it - I didn’t test it, but I know it works with the A1 mini, that I have tested.
What exactly is your point? What do you expect Bambu to do?
For the A1, if it isn’t broken, dont fix it.
Its an incredible machine, faultless at what it does. after 3 months with one I’m upgrading to an X2D next week, for the extra abilities.
That’s not a weakness in the A1, its a strength!

It works fine, the AMS HT as well. Adding compatibility with the full AMS line was a tremendous upgrade for the A1.

Set your own temp or it defaults to like 20C, which would be useless btw
There is nothing wrong with the A1, it does everything i threw at it brilliantly, i just was complaining that Bambu doesn’t put out a clear message if or if not drying while printing with specs.
i couldn’t think of anything a A2 could do better than the A1, well the ptfe hub could do with a update.
But other than that, nothing to ■■■■■ about that i can think of.

Honestly I’d be more apt to believe the AI MINI is Bambu’s forgotten child.
Released in 2023, aimed for beginners and an “affordable” entryway into Bambu Ecosystem, yet I haven’t seen any major updates for this model in the last year or so.
Sure, it has AMS lite but it also has a 140^3 build volume. Both units take up as much tablespace (if not MORE) as an A1 (and you CANT mount the AMS Lite on the mini’s gantry, like you can with A1).
Meanwhile, you can get a standard A1 or a P1S (until stock runs out) for 100 USD more and you get literally more bang for your buck. Heated bed? check. Full AMS compatibility? Check. Ability to print more advanced materials? Check.
The A1 Mini is literally why I got my P1S. If I wanted a small build plate, open-air frame, and limited material, I would have stuck with my flashforge finder v1. Sure it’s ancient but it does literally everything the A1 Mini does, just slower.

The A1 Mini can also use the AMS/AMS Pro 2/AMS HT. Thus, full AMS compatibility.
