A1 Z motor not holding height when printing or static not printing

I have developed a problem with one of A1’s. I have noticed that the z hight when its resting is always sitting on the bed when I walk by. Several times the head has been below the bed and it fries to move it along the X axis and runs into the bed. During a longer print now height wise its happened twice the Z height does not stick and the hot end ends up colliding with the print and dragging along the top. I believe the stepper motor has become weak. Has anyone else seen this.

I am going to open a ticket tomorrow about it but in the meantime I have downed this printer which sucks as I really need it right now. Isn’t that Murphy’s law.

In old printers (like reprap era, 10 years ago) it was never the motor but the controller what was the culprit in cases like this. There was a potentiometer where you could increase the voltage for the steppers (increasing their temp, fixing the issue, if the components werent totally dead) but I am not sure if all of this applies on the A1

yea agree not quite sure will submit a ticket today and see what they say

Hey @kmanning2317 did you get a resolution for this at all? I am having the same issue, doesn’t seem quite as bad as what you were having but it might get worse.
