Not really an option then. Below 50F your machine will start tearing itself apart, and ever more so the colder it gets.
Do you have any update on how the Bambu ASA compares to others you may have tried? I have only ever tried two rolls - one Bambu ASA-CF and one polymaker ASA. The Bambu smells so bad even straight out of the bag, and it’s been through 24h+ of drying at 70C and 2 months later still smells just as bad. Thankfully my printed parts stopped smelling after a week or so of airing out
The Polymaker doesn’t smell at all out of the bag, but I haven’t tried printing with it just yet. I was so hesitant to even try ASA again given the smell of that first Bambu roll! Truly horrendous, almost like burning tires.
Either way, venting out of the window will be a must
I am a huge polymaker fan, and while I’ve tried many different filaments, it’s the only thing I use regularly. The only reason to look anywhere else in my opinion is price and the RFID AMS convenience. I love the idea of the AMS, I don’t love the AMS so much. if only polym didn’t use cardboard spools
Takes about 2 minutes to transfer the cardboard spool onto a BL spool with an adapter, see here.
That being said, I’m not a big fan of the Polymaker PETG. It prints way worse than Prusament.
How did the polymaker ASA smell?
Not bad at all! I keep the chamber fan on at 30-40% which seems to counteract the outside air wanting to come in. I printed once without venting at all overnight and the next day the room did not smell any different than if I ran pla. Impossible to know if that means the bad gasses are not present at all with this Polymaker ASA or if I’m just not sensitive to them, so I will continue to vent out of precaution. I had one hard tangle on the reel which failed a print, but I love the Polymaker ASA so much otherwise (especially compared to petg hf) that I plan to order more!
