Hello Everyone,
I am helping a friend with a project. This was his first time printing with ABS (Bambu ABS Basic). See the photo below where the main issue occurred. The rough areas had supports on them. When I reviewed it, it seemed to me maybe the Z distances needed to be adjusted along with drying the filament some more. I am definitely not an expert and have very little print knowledge of ABS. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

I’ve also been experimenting with ABS recently, and have found that there are a few things that can help with that a lot.
looking at your picture, the first thing that comes to mind is you need to experiment with the part cooling settings. While ABS generally needs a warm chamber and both the chamber fan and aux fans turned off, a part fan set to a low, but constant speed can help a lot.
ultimately, ABS has required a lot more tweaking of settings to get it exactly right, so I strongly recommend running through some test/calibration prints to get it correct.
here’s a series of Benchys that I printed when I first started out with Polylite ABS in black, where I started with the default provided profile, but then had to tweak my filament settings profile over time for my specific machine.
Unfortunately, they can kinda look like crap until the moment you nail the settings, and then it’s perfect.
The only difference between the 4th print from left and the final print was I bumped up the part cooling fan speed by about 10-15%…
