ABS-GF - Refill Option Opportunity

Hello, Community.. I was wondering if ABS-GF was EVER offered in a refill? I know BL is one of the only shops offering this, BUT I’d like to say that it’s HUGE for me(and potentially others) to not have countless spools just end up in the recycle bin… BambuLab, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us save some plastic, cardboard, weight, and storage space by offering REFILL for ABS-GF and other filaments!!!

I had 15 spools 2 days ago. Now I have none.

Geez! so. much. waste.. Bambu should have a deposit program! j/k. not sure if the ABS-GF is made on this continent or not, but if not, technically more refill boxes can fit into a shipping container…

I would say all the filament is made in China or nearby.

It seems that any of the more technical filaments just don’t come as refills - I can see it making sense for the super expensive stuff that you MUST dry immediately before use for best results; those need to go on the HT spools, but there really is no reason to not offer the PETG, ABS, and PLA fiber type filaments as refills.

Appreciate the reply. I’m not questioning the resell-ability of the spools themselves. I am suggesting an alternative option that would have multiple impacts to cost(plastic reduction, cardboard reduction, weight, carbon emissions by fitting more in cases, etc.) and ease-of-use for the consumer, who is already accustomed to other Bambu Lab refill filament.

Let’s take a break from all the environmental policy overreach for a moment. I’m honestly tired of things like paper straws and not being able to carry groceries properly just because I forgot to bring reusable bags.

I think Bambu doesn’t sell refill spools for a reason. A lot of people—including me—would forget that materials like ABS-GF require a different spool for proper high-temperature drying. Instead, we’d just grab whatever spool is nearby (likely one meant for PLA), throw it into a dryer at 85°C or higher, melt it into a blob of plastic, and then complain that Bambu didn’t design for that.

Beyond saving some cardboard, what are the real benefits here? I genuinely like the high-temperature Bambu spools—they’re reliable and built for the job. Chasing marginal environmental savings doesn’t make much sense if it introduces new problems, especially when dealing with demanding materials like ABS-GF.

Focus on meaningful improvements and cost efficiency—not changes that complicate things without clear benefits.

Again, you’re missing my point of the suggestion. There are meaningful savings related to the above-mentioned reductions that can be forwarded onto the consumer.

Furthermore, it’s very clear that high temp spools are required… if a user makes that mistake, it’s on them, and being worried about inept users without the ability to read/comprehend is really saying more than offering a better solution/product to many more competent users.
