I think you’re right, but I also think it’s a limited resource problem. I mean, it takes time to verify stuff like that, especially if the person isn’t established in some manner on another platform, like printables. How do you allocate your limited resources?
The account verification status did come about because of issues with trust on the platform and in the contest. I think it makes sense that they’d start from the top down, working to verify the most popular designers. I feel like I’ve seen a reduction in blatant reposting of other people’s work since measures like this (and other things they’ve been doing) started being implemented. Although obviously there’s still issues out there.
Like you talk about though “Account verification” can’t just be a badge. Once you start, you’ve gotta keep it going.
As far on my observation, they don’t feature models for 3D printers and printer accessories anymore. A lot of parts are models are considered modification, also those categories get abused a lot plus popular itself already. There are no need to promo.
I guess makerworld is technically still a “Beta” so I can deal with it. No harm no foul. It’s simply not a good feeling of always having a weary, skidish type anxiety of worrying if your profile is going to get banned or not.
I’ve read and read and read all the terms and conditions and rules yet when I think I understand something I see a post regarding someone else who appears to have followed the rules but gets banned…
Always remember to keep in mind that you are only getting one side of the story… If something doesn’t make sense, there almost always is more to the story.
Yeah! That’s why people get grilled a bit when we start talking about those topics.
I share these same anxieties. I follow along these topics pretty closely because of that, and I would say that the majority of the time if someone isn’t being shady, usually things get cleared up. The ones that seem to have the most troubles, there’s usually something they did or are doing that is suspect.
I will also say though as a person that deals with heaping amounts of anxiety. You’ve gotta try and disconnect yourself from some of these things that are beyond your control.
Your 4 to 1 splitter is doing great, it’s got good numbers from what I see. It’s a little harder building up when you’re not a trend/meme chaser sort (bunny ears on benchy type of stuff), but through solid work, you’re building a much better foundation on which to build yourself up from.
