Adapted cubic creating floating supports

Hi

I thought id give adapted cubic and it seems to be creating floating infilll. Is this something to do with my model, or just a normal error inherant in the algorithm? Is there anyway for me to get around this somehow does anyone know?

thanks for any help

I assume you’re referring to these sections noted by the green arrows.

I’ve never seen that happen unless you had modifiers in the model.

Here’s what I would check in no particular order:

  • Try rotating the model on the plate by 30-45 degrees and see if the infill changes.

  • See if using using aligned rectilinear creates the same gap.

  • Try changing the angle of the infill and see if that has an effect.

Good luck🍀 and let us know how you make out so that everyone else can learn.

hi - yeah those red bits that seem to float above nothing!. Unfortunately I wasn’t looking when it printed, but it didn’t actually fail! - I’ll have to give it another try tomorrow and see what it does

took a look at the print again, and it does seem to be a bit of a mess around those layers, but it sorts it self out and doesnt fail as i guess theres another support in general. Must be just one of those weird algorythmic glithes i guess
