Why can wee only add 4 AMS,s to H2D and not 6 or 8?
It is possible to add up to 24.
https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/ams/manual/multi-model-AMS-compatibility-guide
- 4 x AMS or AMS 2 Pro (any combination)
- 8 x AMS HT
The AMS units are powered by the bus (internal power cables), this has a maximum and they have limited the capacity as above to stay within that.
Before you ask, they have not explained why you couldn’t have 6 x AMS and no AMS HT units.
The drying features are powered externally on the AMS 2 Pro, that power is not added to the bus.
I suspect some architectural limitations of the original AMS units play a part in this.
Why not add power supply to each AMS then to add more.
I answered that.
Most likely it was an early engineering design decision. After all, almost no one makes models that require more than 16 different filaments.
I think (as stated) it is the maximum power draw of the AMS units from the printer.
Along the way - it stuck.
Imagine how good Windows would be if they dropped support for DOS, Windows 95 and so on.
Could they not make a power supply that would link all the AMS Pro togerther.
eg I power supply with 8 six pin sockets for the AMS pro
Actually I have all of my AMS for convenience reasons, not to actually print with 16 different colors…
