For the context, I am new to 3d printing, I’ve owned P1S since November last year and the printer have so far done 238 hours of printing. I’ve been printing a fair bit between November and January and then had a pause for a while. All printing at the start was done using Bambu Labs PLA Black, Red, Green and Bambu Labs PETG transparent. Never had any issues. I’ve then started printing again at start of April and had adhesion issues pretty much since then that got progressively worse.
Since April I tried Sunlu PLA+ Black, Real Fillament PLA RAL 7011, Elegoo PLA+ Grey and Bambu Labs PLA black, all dried for 12 hours before use on the heatbed.
Parts, that before printed without issues now lift couple of layers in. Before you ask, I use a scrubbing washing up sponge, with Fairy classic dish wash liquid and warm water to clean the plate. I tried IPA too.
So far I have tried following:
Factory reset and Full Calibration
Firmware downgrade from 1.0.8 to older ones
Printing on different parts of the plate
Changing initial layer heights, speeds, temperatures, turning fans off for first layers, slowing whole prints down. always tried to use correct settings for specific fillament with custom Elegoo and Real FIllament settings to match fillament spec.
Adjusting Z-Offset
Bambu Labs Glue Stick
New Textured PEI plate
Absolutely nothing from the above list made any difference, even the slightest. The smaller the part I’m trying to print, the faster it lifts. Larger parts might stick and start lifting on the edges couple of minutes into the print.
Could someone please point me in the right direction as to what steps I should take next to try and resolve this?
I’ve not got any thermal thermometer to measure this physically but according to the app, and the screen yes, it reaches the required temperatures. I’ve done fillament drying today with 70c and it was certainly very hot to touch.
I did get a new Textured PEI Plate from UniTak yesterday, it had good reviews so went with it and nothing changed unfortunately. Did full calibration once installed and the print just flew off about a minute into it.
We need more information, to play detective of course, like what is your room temperature, what is your part fan speed, aux fan speed? Is there any cold draft blowing towards the printer?
It’s 24-28°C indoor here in Sydney during Dec-Jan and about 18-20°C this Autumn. It’s harder to print during Winter of course.
Can you take macro pictures of the bottom surface of your parts?
The one flew off and the one stayed, as detail as possible.
Hi! Im gonna have a hard time finding the ones that fell off, usually dispose of them straight away. Ill try to see if I can find anything tonight when back home.
So the temperature sits at around 21/22c and humidity is at around 50%. I think when I started printing back in November it was probably 18c and it was all good. Printer sits in a corner of a unit shielded by a wall on right and back and by a cabinet on the left and not in any draft area.
I have been using pretty much default setting but tried experimenting with fans and had aux fan switched off completely with no cooling on other ones for 1-4 layers and results were the same.
I tried adjusting first layer height, print speeds, bed temperatures and nozzle temperatures, travel speeds.
BUT HOPEFULLY I GOT THE SOLUTION. Its been printing flawlessly for past 3 prints at 5 hours total.
And its really bugging, as I thought my cleaning process was enough. A stainless steel brillo pad was suggested by a user on another forum. Considering I had a fresh plate that did nothing I was sceptical about this but listen to this…
Well I scrubbed the plate with stainless steel brillo, with fairy liquid under warm water. I then rinsed it with cold water, dried with microfibre and voulla. Its sticking like it used to. I’m very suprised as I did a lot of scrubbing before, just not with stainless steel brillo.
