So your conclusion is that your spring tension is too strong for TPU 50D, while many of us print TPU 70A and even softer grades without any issues? That really doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t usually like asking this—since I dislike it when support does the same—but do you have a clip of the failed loading scenario? It would make it much easier to understand what’s actually happening.

what does the hotend is not attached so temps don’t matter mean? Do you mean it is failing before temps should matter?
In case you are interested in tackling adjusting the extruder, I asked AI…
Yes, you can adjust the extruder gear tension on the Bambu Lab H2D, but it’s not designed for quick access—especially when dealing with ultra-soft filaments like 50D TPU, which are notoriously finicky.
Tension Adjustment Overview
- The H2D (like other Bambu toolheads) has a hidden tension screw that controls the pressure between the drive gears.
- By default, accessing it requires removing the hotend/extruder assembly, which is not ideal for frequent tweaks.
- Some users have created drill jigs to expose the screw externally, allowing on-the-fly tension changes without disassembly.
