I am a user of the Bambu Lab H2S, and I’m finding the current search filters on MakerWorld a bit frustrating when looking for large-scale projects.
The Issue: The H2S has a significantly larger build plate than previous models like the P-series or the A-series. However, when I filter for “H2S” in the search, the results are flooded with small models designed for 256x256mm or 180x180mm beds.
While these smaller models can be printed on an H2S, they don’t take advantage of the machine’s primary strength: its large build volume.
My Suggestion: Please implement an “Exclusive Search Filter” or an “Exclude Smaller Printers” toggle.
Specifically, I want to be able to:
Select my printer model (H2S).
Enable a filter that hides all models that are small enough to fit on the X1/P1 (256mm) or A1 mini (180mm).
Only see models that require the larger dimensions of the H2-series bed.
Why this is necessary: For users with large-format printers, we often want to find “Full-Scale” projects (large helmets, furniture, one-piece organizers, etc.). Currently, we have to scroll through thousands of small files to find the few that actually utilize our printer’s full capacity.
This feature would make MakerWorld much more user-friendly for owners of your larger machines.
Because 256mm3 printers still make up the core of the audience, when you make a model you want the most number of people to be able to download and print it otherwise you’re just leaving points on the table
That’s true, but a creator can make profiles for the H2 series or other future ones and not miss out on other models or downloads. One doesn’t have to exclude the other. What I want is filtering, and with that, maybe more granular profiles will come, which will benefit both creators and searchers. That’s what I think, but I’m relatively new and learning as I go.
Try search on these terms (helmet, furniture, organizer) and/or combine the terms with a filter on print time and total weight and see if you can norrow down the list.
You may not find many models that cannot be printed on regular printers, as designers want to create their models for as many users as possible.
Users looking for designs that only fit on the H series printer will miss some great “full-scale” models that are printable on regular printers.
They could, but because point rewards are based on the profiles number of downloads as well it doesn’t make sense to bother spending time making 2 different ones when there will be far less people downloading a H2 profile compared to a 256mm3 profile
It’s not always about points. I have a few models that can only be printed with H-Sereis printers because I designed them for myself, and shared them with others. Some of them have done okay for the limited audience. I expect that audience to grow over time, too. I would also like to have a way to search for larger models. They are harder to find, and a filter for them would make it nice.
