Advice on what to order with Bambu Lab X1

I’m getting ready to order a Bambu Lab X1 for my husband. Can anyone tell me what accessories, etc I might want to order along with it? Anything important or things I might need on hand? Thanks for any help!

Aww nice partner!

I just got mine and pretty much wish I just had more filament.
If husband is into carbon/glass filled stuff I would recommend the hardened nozzle in .8

The most useful accessory by far is the Dual-Sided Textured PEI build plate. The High Temperature Plate (PEI) might be useful. Other parts from Bambu are mostly spares and probably best to let him decide what if any he wants to keep on hand.

Filament to print with is obviously useful if he doesn’t already have a lot.

i wasn’t sure so i bought almost everything; if they were in stock and the prices were low, i ordered. stock comes and goes often and i don’t like waiting (i blame amazon prime).

i would suggest though:

0.6 hotend - Complete Hotend Assembly - X1 Series 0.6mm Hardened Steel / X1 Series Exclusive

the 2 plates mentioned above

liquid glue (i haven’t tried it but seems better than the stick) - Liquid Glue for Build Plate ( PLA/ABS/PETG ) | Bambu Lab US

i bought a bunch of extra sheets (stickers that goes on the plates), which i’ll probably never use up.

filament i buy from amazon; i don’t print anything pretty to use the good stuff.

Amazon has lots of high quality filament. That’s usually where I buy mine from too.

Is this going to be his first 3D printer?

I second getting the Textured PEI Plate. The Cool Plate has given me trouble, while the Textured PEI Plate never has. It’s like magic.

Downside to that plate is that it’ll give the bottom surface a textured look, which looks cool but is sometimes not what you want.

Yes, it is. Tbh I don’t think he’s going to have the time so it just may end up being mine. :joy: Thank you for your time/help!

In that case, you might not want to rush off and buy a bunch of different build plates, filaments, glues, etc. The things you ultimately decide to print will dictate which types of plates/filaments/glues/etc. you need.
