Its not bots its people using ai to post these
This is fast becoming a big issue on MakerWorld, with the tools on the platform itself ironically helping to exacerbate the problem.
One example of this is Triple G Workshop who are quite openly flooding the site with AI image to mesh converted models. This has led them to flying up the ‘Designer’ ranks. This is no fault of theirs, they are simply using the tools that MakerWorld is providing them. But they are not a ‘Designer’ and it does discredit those who are genuinely putting in hours of work to produce higher quality models.
As there is no skill involved and it’s simply gaming the system, more and more users will start doing this as there is also a financial incentive from MakerWorld to do so.
We’ll eventually end up with a platform of low quality AI generated models with no skill involved.
@MakerWorld you are going to lose your genuine designers if you continue to promote this use of your platform.
AI is not the problem. For one, AI isn’t going anywhere. Not from MakerWorld or any other corner of the internet. AI is here to stay, and fighting it is silliness.
People are always going to upload low effort models. Let’s pretend for a minute that MakerWorld rid themselves of all of their AI tools and banned all AI models. In that scenario, I don’t think those people would stop uploading low effort models, they would just produce them in Tinkercad or Freecad or whatever. AI is not the problem.
In my opinion, the way forward isn’t to butt heads with these users, but to educate them on how to use some of these tools to produce higher quality models.
I agree, AI isn’t the problem.
The issue here is not only allowing, but incentivising users to flood the platform with AI generated models that require no skill to produce and are not of the same quality as producing your own.
It’s nothing to do with ‘educating’ people on how to use modelling tools. Why would someone spend hours creating a model when they can do it in a couple of minutes and get the same reward.
How about we use AI to remove low quality models? We can just happily watch it destroying itself.
False positives wouldn’t be good for anybody
Agreed, and as long as they’re not AI generated I don’t see a problem with low quality models, everyone starts somewhere.
Deltaprints can create two cylinders and remarket them as “minamalist toothbrush holders”, here’s one from 5 hours ago
It wouldn’t be that bad if the models at least looked like in the photo. But the angles are visibly different, and the tray also doesn’t match.
Most notorious Deltaprints AI model would probably be their crescent moon tealight holder though. It printed so badly that someone had to remake it from scratch just so it would be printable.
It was @Square3D (and his model is great )
I know a guy who remade one of their more popular designs at the time without AI in under 5 minutes as a parametric file in fusion
Somewhere around here….
I see he is at it again. Guess all that sweet talk about new rules and enforcing the AI thing never went through uh?
Who would have guessed?
Forget about that guy. Makerworld loves him. Just think about this. He made thousands of points, enough to buy several X1C’s and even H2D’s and yet, he printed almost exclusive with a Flashforge 5M until recently that he got a A1… That says a lot to me…
AI slop is the way to go, it seems. Time to get modern i guess
Last week I saw a few reddit posts “just bought an H2D with gift cards” and the screenshot f a zero balance etc etc
Being the nosy little bugger I am, I check their post history to see what they’ve been posting…
Several hundred uploads AI Slop and Hueforge spam
The message it sent to thousands of commenters in that thread alone was simple: get a free printer by spamming AI
I wish I could report for AI spamming…
I’ve got a baaaaaddddd feeling it’s about to get way worse when they open that 2D section up on MW. I don’t know if the points will be the same but do you know how many sites out there offer free SVG files?
2D section is your least worries (Can’t be posted in the exclusive program anymore). so they wouldn’t have the same advantages like we do.
The changes that could accrue after the beta phase of makerworld what worries me the most - if what i fear happens (i shall not mention) i would pull the plug, i already suffered enough from thieves but the points system is what is keeping me motivated.
I was goign to report this as well!
Look at the portable seat contest flooded with AI junk.
(one of the AI junk entries has been doubled and superimposed on an legitimate entry as it’s not AI). It’s just AI trash. Imagine if everyone does that from now on.

I’ve reported this model twice, and they rejected both. They seem to think this is a real print image.
They have a lot more ai generated models as well.
Don’t you love it when the benchy gets a “cat boat design” remix?
