Airgapped Bambu A1 experience:
Setup:
Desktop connected to wired router. A1 connected to wifi from router. Router NOT connected to internet. Pings succeed. Other non-bambu printers on the same network are reachable from desktop browser via IP.
A1 was configured during a time in which internet was available, but it was setup as and is set to LAN MODE.
A1 is frozen on firmware version 01.04.00.00
Steps:
Load model, slice a thing
Print plate screen
Printer list takes ~15sec to load, some timeout happening in the background
Printer list shows my 3 LAN mode printers
Select one
“Synchronizing device information” sits for a 15sec timeout
Then “Connect - $myprintername failed! [SN:$myserialnumber, code=-1]”
AMS color profiles never actually fill in for assignment of filament 1 → AMS slot 1…
Refresh doesnt do anything but cycle thru Synchronize/connectfail
Give up
Print to file, manually move an SD card over, print from that.
Tried:
Manually disabling ethernet on PC, connecting PC to same wifi network as printer, ping succeed, send print fails.
Restarting my PC. Restarting the A1. Restarting the router. Restarting my life choices.
After many rounds of this, slicer crashes.
In this same network configuration, other vendors printers work on the same subnets flawlessly.
When I give my router internet briefly for a moment… it all works. I can even select all the menu things, DISCONNECT INTERNET, then press print, and it will send successfully, over what must be LAN since they literally do not have internet at that moment.
But it will NEVER get to that stage successfully, without internet.
Hmmmmmm. Not lookin’ too good. Am I missing something bambu-flavored to do special for this?
