Airless ball fail with TPU

Hey, all. Fairly new to 3d, using an A1. I was having problems printing Benchy with TPU (it seems to be a standard test print file). I am using Inland black; there is no information on whether it is 95A or something else. Print temp is listed as 215 to 230. After going through some of the responses in the forum, I slowed down the print speed and waxed the auxiliary holder with RenWax, a dry lube for work surfaces; friction is very low and the spool turns without stopping or swinging like it used to. I tried to print an airless golf ball and had to stop it halfway through.

As you can see, it was not successful. Standard slicer setting using the Bambu slicer. This is very similar to how Benchy looked, no solid surfaces, all webbed. The forum advice is really inconsistent, as some people use stock settings and things print great, others struggle for days and never seem to get it fixed. Based on the pics, what does the problem look to be? Thanking you in advance. All PLA prints are great, BTW. If I can’t get TPU to work, I may switch to flexible PLA or PEBA.

Literally three minutes out of the dessicator when the print started. Temps here were in the low 20s and the relative humidity is around 20%. Just to be sure, I’ll redry it and try again. Thanks. I’m using a low-temp commercial food dehydrator (~65 F). Is this insufficient? I haven’t gotten a hygrometer yet.

What did you find your pressure advance calibration to be? (just making sure you did it - its massively important for TPU, it can be 10x +)

And I also second to dry it again just cuz I’ve never met a dry tpu in my entire life, and it always seems to help it

I have no idea where to find the pressure advance calibration numbers.

I would suggest to get TPU from bambu and test again, this filament could be very tricky

Yeah, I was thinking that myself. I could hear my dad telling me to get the best I could afford, not the cheapest I could find…

Bambu calls it Flow Dynamics -

I cant speak if the automatic flow dynamic works well with TPU, but the number is usually much larger than normal. One 95a I use tested at 0.105, which is an absolute eternity

Well phooey. I click on the Calibration tab and it takes me straight to the Wiki page about calibration. No options, no data. Does it save the info or do I need to check during the print run? Or is it stored in the printer itself?

The thing is that with tricky filaments, is a bad idea to start with the cheap ones. I have printed aliexpress cheapest TPU on my bambu, but I can tell what to adjust because I have the more expensive ones (the “foaming TPU” and the 95A).

Since the consensus is to start with drying it better, is there a printer box that dries filament that you recommend? Lots of options out there. I’d like to avoid amazon if possible.

I think you need to dry it. Search up not dry tpu print example and then push images. It looks like what you have.
