I have been choosing “Don’t Allow” when presented with this popup message (on a MacBook Pro). Now I wonder if that choice has something to do with the problem of Bambu Studio (BS) dropping connection to my X1Cs. Since a few months ago, the connection between BS and the printers has been on and off, mostly off, occasionally on for a short period of time.
Do you allow Bambu Studio to find devices on your local networks? What information does it collect? If I choose “Allow”, can BS collect information on my laptop, phone, and any and all devices on my local network?
I’m not sure if you’re addressing the forum or Bambu. It sounds like you’re directing this question to Bambu Labs. If your phone doesn’t ring, that’s them not answering.
Bluntly: this is the problem with Bambu—opacity, obfuscation, misdirection, and the smug gaslighting that we should just be grateful to buy their products. If they wanted you to know what data they collect, they wouldn’t encrypt the logs. But clearly, it’s all over our heads, and we shouldn’t trouble our pretty little minds with something as trivial as privacy, right?
It should be noted that most modern companies that implement this type of intrusive data collection provide you either a link to their privacy policy Bambu clearly feels they need to do that. Why? Because simply put, they don’t care and they make the rules.
Solution: Switch to Orca, don’t upgrade your firmware lest you be locked out of features.
