Are you a moderator? Or, just a volunteer?
Volunteer, there is only one moderator, that is @JonRaymond.
Why?
You realise the reporting process is performed by volunteers, right? MW (BL) aren’t proactively doing it.
I said “please”, like a polite person asking someone not to do something,
I didn’t tell them not to like a staff member would.
Just curious. I am always interested in what makes people do something like this.
You mean, like actually how he wants to make sure people are following the rules?
I for one, am thankful for what he does.
I also make multi-coloured prints. It always depends on which type of filament you use, the colour doesn’t play a major role.
When I use normal (generic) PLA, I set up several colours. However, the users who then print it usually use other colours, sometimes even a different type of filament (PLA+, instead of PLA or even Silk-PLA).
What can I do?
-
print a sample model with several colours and the filament type, as provided by me in Bambu Slicer. These are saved with the profile and later uploaded to MW.
-
if a second profile is created with a different type of filament, for example normal PLA is then exchanged for Silk PLA, print a sample model with the profiles of the filaments that are entered in the Bambu Slicer by my preselection. These are saved with the profile and later uploaded to MW.
I’ve reported a lot of models too. There’s been times when MW got flooded with trivial models because posters were cashing in big time on the benefits Bambu was using to encourage new models. It was very disruptive and those posters weren’t part of the community. They were/are scammers here solely to manipulate the system for their own benefit - they are here to steal and don’t care what their activities do to usability of MW. I’m all for burying those guys under mounds of reports.
There are more “innocent” abusers who may be taking time to actually design stuff but either can’t or won’t follow the posting rules. I’m sympathetic to those who don’t have printers, but if they have a great design, there are places that will print their models. They can get physical prints and can then take actual photographs.
Having to post photos is a good rule. It doesn’t prevent those without printers from participating. Without the rules this place gets buried under scammers. I like to peruse designs but I hate wading through scammer posts and others who think they don’t have to follow the rules here. So I also report models/profiles without photos or that are stolen from others. Since Bambu doesn’t seem too proactive, reporting these things ourselves is all we can do.
