So I’ve gotten a few takedowns, some have taken off a lot of points, some not so many, but in any case MakerWorld has denied all my appeals, most of them were because back when I uploaded the profiles, the real images weren’t required.
I agree all profiles should include real images. But I think that we should be allowed to edit our offending designs before we appeal, so we fix the offence and not be denied. Is anyone in the same boat as I?

I got some designs from 2024 taken down, that was a very sad day.
Just had about 10 of my models taken down with no warning due to a trademark infringement. Easy fix, just need to change some wording.
I’m OK with things being taken down if there is issues but please keep them in drafts or something so they can be fixed! Many hours went into these descriptions

Yep, exactly my case. I uploaded some Hot Wheels track accessories and all of a sudden, they just took them down. A warning to comply would have been met with quick action. When I search Hot Wheels I mostly get 1:64 Die Cast xxxxxx. The system could even suggest the name change. They have such good AI tools that something that suggests alternate names could be very useful for the users, and better for MakerWorld as they wouldn’t have to take down so many designs.
You had moooooooore than enough time to comply with the rules. The requirement for real pictures in profiles came in what? 2023? They sent out a notification and gave you X amount of time to update them.

I have 200+ designs, As easily as they took down everyone’s designs, they could have notified which were offending. It’s better for everyone. I might be alone here, but I don’t think there’s been consistency and certainty in the way WM has applied the rules or guidelines.
The rules are applied to everyone but Makerworld does not scrub every model to look for offenders. If no one reported your model in 2 years then were in luck until now.
Then get going or it won’t be the last that gets taken down.

Mate that’s not the point.
The point is models that are flagged should be able to be knocked back into ‘drafts’ or something, similar to when you make a technical issue on the print profie.
Even if they got locked down and needed a human review before they went public again, this would save having to rebuild from scratch and in the long run likely save makerworld time and effort as they build a history of a model instead of dealing with a new listing every time.
■■■■, I’d be happy with being able to view the old page so I can at the very least copy and paste the text, but even that isn’t possible in the current system.

The othe day I got a parking ticket. Why couldn’t they just left a note on my car and told me to move it? I am sure I would have if they gave me a chance.

You would have had to pass a test to get your driver’s license which would have included the rules regarding parking. Bambu has had no such strict measures to use their platform or products. Adding to that the fact that their enforcement of the rules throughout these past 3 years hasn’t been the most consistent, it just feels exaggerated in some cases.
Keep in mind Bambu needs the designers, of course we’ve been seduced into their platform with points and free stuff. I’m quite sure they wouldn’t miss me personally, but if enough people are turned off to their platform because of harsh handling of topics like this, the quality content would start to migrate elsewhere and they would be in deep trouble.
I’m just saying they could have a better system to keep the designers on their platform and IP holders happy at the same time.

The guidelines that you agree to every time you post a model?
The real model image rule for profiles has been in the guidelines since 2023. You have had plenty of time to notice.
Do you get pulled over every time you speed? I consistently speed every day. Only ever gotten one ticket.
Bambu has enough designers now to pick and choose. If you are following the rules, you dont get to play the game.
Is this really that big of a deal? Are you uploading for points or is it something you enjoy doing? I have about 700 CAD files uploaded to GrabCAD over the past few years. Not one morsel of compensation. But I like doing it.

The spot that I parked at had been free for whole day (except overnight not allowed) for years (that’s why I parked there). It wasn’t until recently that they put a hour-limit on free parking.
I have said this before, I apparently need to say it again.
These system messages you show are not available to me or anyone else who joined after they were issued.
If you signed up on the 24th of October 202e, you have no reference to this requirement.
Yet, those who were never informed, can’t go back to see it has it doesn’t exist) have to follow something they were never told.
As always, those who are seeing Bambu Lab as faultless can’t seem to see they fail to inform many people at all, yet all have to follow rules they were never told about.
All while those out there that were told keep saying “We were told, why don’t you know?”
I keep telling you why people didn’t know.
The other thing is, given MakerWorld know they screwed up and didn’t tell people in a single location and still do not do this.
They still do not provide any changelog and all the other basic communication methods actual professional companies bother to provide.
If they wanted a better offering, let those trapped by their own failure to communicate that to designers to fix the problem.
If the aim is to have photos, let the users add photos, they probably still do not know, because you know, all the things I have said now and every time I get involved and still isn’t fixed.
There is a difference between someone who didn’t know vs someone who didn’t care. If the model images have photos and the profiles doesn’t, the designer isn’t trying to get away with anything.
Don’t treat the innocents as you do the guilty.
Do you imagine those designers cheated out of points and told they screwed up by not knowing something they were never told will be willing to keep going?
Isn’t it bad enough that BL favours AI slop vs real designers proving real models?

Agreeing to the guidelines didn’t start in 2023.
The guidelines didn’t explicitly say a photo was required until most of the way through 2024.
The same guidelines that said every model must have a photo only to have that removed.
The same “guidelines” that are not “requirements” as the word doesn’t mean you must.
Requirements are mandatory, binding rules (“shall”) that must be followed for compliance, often audited and non-negotiable. Guidelines are voluntary, flexible recommendations or best practices (“should”) designed to assist in achieving goals.
Words are important, if you call something a guideline but you meant a requirement, call it a requirement.
It still says guidelines, a voluntary code of practice and not one that you are obligated to follow.
Many of the guidelines do not have corresponding reporting entries, further enforcing the voluntary nature of the entries as you can’t report rule breakers!
I love following rules, let’s have some.
Let’s have some professionally written ones with corresponding reporting entries.
Let’s have a changelog.
Let’s use them to clean up the bad guys and not penalise the good guys.

It looks like you ran into other rules before, but you were able to took it in stride last time.
You may want to check if you have any uploads that don’t have print profiles and there are no photo of the printed model in such uploads. If you have them, you have until May 5 to fix the problem.

You can repeat it as many times as you want. This case is neither about you nor anyone else. It’s about OP and OP did get the notification as he was signed up before the rule got introduced.

It is idiotic that they call it a guideline, but it has consistently treated as a rule. They are two different things. No one is disagreeing.
But in this context, as it has been for years, when guidelines are enforced, they are rules.
Follow the “guidelines” voluntarily, but get punished when you dont follow them.
I might have taken those takedowns in stride as you say, but that doesn’t mean that Bambu could make it easier for designers to correct/fix/ammend their violations, by simply setting the designs to private, or to draft or to a new form of being as @DrKriegerAUS posted. It would decrease a lot of grief from all parties involved.
Maybe you guys all follow the guidelines perfectly all the time and have nothing to worry about because you keep up with the changes and revise all your old uploads to comply with the new guidelines. Very impressive.
Most of us upload designs for fun, to share and give back to the community, we don’t make this our full time job. If we are expected to be robot-like about these guidelines, then the fun and willingness to share will be drained out of the community, and as @MalcTheOracle says, the platform will eventually become mostly AI slop.
I’m just asking to be let know that we have so many offending designs that will be taken down if not fixed or allowed to fix the violations after the takedown, appeals do nothing because we are not allowed to edit the offense in order to make it better.
If you guys @DWdesigns , @xsynatic @CincinnatiDesigns always comply with the guidelines and keep up with the changes, and update any of your newly offending designs before takedowns, I congratulate you, that takes a lot of work and dedication, I just don’t think that’s realistic for most people.
