AMS 2 Pro and A1

I recently replaced the AMS Lite with two AMS 2 Pro’s. I know I’ve the cost of the A1 for each AMS, but they are a nice upgrade. I have 8 slots available. I don’t know if I will ever print with 8 colors, but it’s nice to have different colors available, so I can print without changing filaments. I also like the fact that the AMS 2 Pro keeps the filament dry. With the AMS Lite, I was constantly moving filaments between the AMS Lite and my dry boxes.

I had to print a guide for the PTFE tube from the buffer to the hot end as without it, filaments would get hung up in the buffer, but once I added that, things are working well. I have the AMS 2 Pro’s sitting on the table next to the A1 (see picture) and I have easy access to the printer from the side of the table and the AMS’s from the end. As you can see, with the data and power cabling and PTFE tubes, it is kind of cluttered between the printer and AMS’s.

On the enclosed printers, the buffer is mounted to the case and doesn’t move. With the recommended installation for the A1, the buffer is mounted to the Z axis gantry and moves. Has anyone made a different mount for the AMS 2 Pro buffer with the A1?

I would be interested in details and/or pictures of other user’s A1 / AMS 2 Pro installations.

Thanks,
Mark

Mine was mounted on a wall, and it worked great. I’ve since moved it to another wall and switched back to just the AMS Lite.

Are you able to print while drying with AMS 2 Pro on A1/Mini with latest Firmware?
