If you look back to the first posts, you will see the scenario I am experiencing is the requested feature that isn’t offered. Many posts request the ability to run out to a different colour.
I should NOT be experiencing this outcome.
The Auto Refill feature is meant to match down to colour so if white runs out and there is another white, the second white takes over and doesn’t alert the user to swap out the filament.
My experience is I will never be told the filament has run out so I can swap it, even if the backup is disabled.
This means I do not get a choice of how the print works!
Your point 1 is what is meant to happen, if there are no identical matching filaments, then the user is alerted to replace the empty spool. I know this as I have experienced it.
Your point 2 has been asked as an option for the Auto Refill.
For it to be acceptable, it would require a UI to allow the user to choose which will and will not fail over. The logical expectation is people would prefer to use up spool close to empty, but, they may have other priorities.
