Press the “Auto Refill” caption in the device tab, it is a button, just not obvious.
Mine now shows three different colours and the backup feature is disabled.
So, I can’t turn it off and it works against my wishes.
If one of those colours runs out and I do not have a spare on the printer that matches it, I expect it to PAUSE and send a message to my devices to tell me to swap the empty filament.
Disable the backup option, so, the above screen shouldn’t be possible.
That window is the one I shared. The Pie chart of colours should only appear when all the factors match.
You are seeing the message I wish to see. You do not have any matching filaments in your AMS collection, so you are correctly told no auto refill will occur.
If you had two reds, you would see a pie chart instead of your screenshot and it should show two halves, each red.
The bug I am reporting is it incorrectly matches different filament colours. It also does this when the option for filament backup is turned off.
But I have 7 different colors loaded and still don’t get that menu you are talking about. That’s why I asked if you are using the latest firmware for AMS, AMS Hub and printer and what version of Slicer you are using.
At the moment I have 5 ASA loaded along with 2 PLA Silk+ and I don’t get that menu, no matter where I try. And I have 2 of the same type, 2 ASA Aero loaded…
What I meant was if a spool is used for printing until it runs out, and printing continues with another, can the first/empty spool be replaced with a full one so that as the circle completes a-la-pie-chart arrows, can printing continue with the first spool that has since been swapped? Even if this is only with identical BBL spools/filament.
If A1 is used and runs out during the print, it would go to A4.
The empty spool in A1 could then be replaced with a new spool.
I am unsure if the AMS will acknowledge the new spool as I am unaware if adding a new spool overrides the knowledge that it was empty before. It has all the sensors, it could, I just do not know if it will.
However, there are two issues:
Three different colours are shown, this should not show different colours based on the rules of Auto Refill.
Filament Backup is disabled, it should show ANY option!
When B2 runs out there are three “continuation” scenarios that I can think of:
An identical filament (type and colour) has been inserted into another slot with which to continue
A compatible filament (type) has been inserted into another slot with which to continue
No identical or compatible filaments have been inserted into empty slots
I’m still pondering through whether 1 and 2 match, or are compared with only the original spool with which printing started, or with one of the successive spools. If A1 and A4 were replaced/refilled when printing with B2, does the circular sequence continue, or does printing continue with the “most” compatible spool available - a matching type and colour would trump a matching type with different colour.
There are many permutations.
Ideally, it would be most helpful if the refill sequence could be shuffled before printing starts, and again as spools are replaced while printing continues - on the console on an X1 would be just fine, or on the mobile or desktop app for any other printer/AMS combo.
When BBL spools with RFID tags are used, more of this could be self-determining. That would be great for those who almost exclusively use BBL filament.
There needs to be more real-time filament swapping/refilling capability added.

If you look back to the first posts, you will see the scenario I am experiencing is the requested feature that isn’t offered. Many posts request the ability to run out to a different colour.
I should NOT be experiencing this outcome.
The Auto Refill feature is meant to match down to colour so if white runs out and there is another white, the second white takes over and doesn’t alert the user to swap out the filament.
My experience is I will never be told the filament has run out so I can swap it, even if the backup is disabled.
This means I do not get a choice of how the print works!
Your point 1 is what is meant to happen, if there are no identical matching filaments, then the user is alerted to replace the empty spool. I know this as I have experienced it.
Your point 2 has been asked as an option for the Auto Refill.
For it to be acceptable, it would require a UI to allow the user to choose which will and will not fail over. The logical expectation is people would prefer to use up spool close to empty, but, they may have other priorities.
I got the pie, only with duplicate colors, as you said (also tried with empty slots, restarts etc) But, the tick on “AMS filament backup” doesn’t seem to have any effect… Who knows.
I want your bug as an option.
