Sometimes (about every 10 to 20 prints) my AMS selects the wrong colors for me.
I make a 4 color print, and when the color in slot 1 should be used, it selects slot 2, when 2 should be used, it selects 3, etc…
In Bambu studio, there are 4 colors, and the AMS is loaded exactly the same. The AMS is synchronized with the printer, and both the printer and AMS are on the latest firmware.
Now, I have 3 times the same setup, being a P1S with it’s own AMS, and this problem only happens with one of the machines, I have never had this happen on my other two machines, that often run the same print job.
I have tried resetting everything. I took out the connectors and reseated them, but still, only sometimes, this problems rears it’s ugly head. What can this be?
I try to understand what you are saying, but I don’t.
The print is being send to the printer, so there must be a connection. Also, before I sent a print, I always sync my AMS, that’s how I know which filament is loaded in each slot.
The thing is, next time I hit print, the problem is gone, while next week, it might happen again, but only on this specific printer, not on the other two printers that I have.
What I meant was that I had the same issue when the printer disconnected from Wi-Fi. Try manually turning off Wi-Fi on the printer and re-adding it in Bambu Handy. This can also happen due to a weak Wi-Fi signal. In my case, all AMS issues were caused by that. So the printer is synced, you send a file to print, and during the printing process it loses signal — that’s when AMS starts acting up.

When we discussed my similar issue a year ago, it was explained to me like this:
When you send a file to print, the G-code gets uploaded, but the AMS settings work in real-time. So if the connection is lost, the AMS starts selecting filaments based on the color assignments it saw before you made any updates to which color is in each AMS slot.
Since you said the issue only happens occasionally, I’m pretty sure this is exactly what’s going on.
100% sure your slicer wasn’t set up with incorrect filament colors vs what the reality was in the filament reels? You can paint things blue and gold in the slicer but if you tell the ams it has blue in slot 1, and assign slot 1 in the print menu, but it’s actually a reel of green in slot 1, you’re getting slot 1 no matter what it is. It doesnt know, and is working off numbers not colors

Just for clarification (and also to check if I’m doing this correctly):
When I change colors in the AMS, I always do it in the Device tab. As far as I know, that’s the only proper way to do it, because that’s where you’re actually editing the filaments in the AMS, right?
Regarding my Wi-Fi reception: my router is mounted underneath the table, and the three printers are sitting on top of that table. The distance between the router and the furthest printer isn’t even one meter. According to the icon in the Device tab, I also have full Wi-Fi signal.
And about the print itself: in the last case where things went wrong, it was the fourth time I was running that batch. I had printed the exact same thing three times before with good results, but on the fourth run it failed. The fifth run went fine again. So it was really a one-time incident within that series of prints — although it’s something that does happen occasionally, but only very rarely. This last thing lines up a bit with what @Tim_Bricker says about the printjob and the AMS settings not being in the same signal package (if I am translating this correctly). So the AMS settings being realtime while the print is uploaded.
Others may have opinions, but I tend to assign the AMS physically on the printer, after racking the spoool, and before walking away from the printer. You can do so on the pad of the device (except for P1)
Lol, Thanks… The P1S That’s exactly the printer I happen to use, however, I sometimes do the exact same and I use the Panda Touch for it (which still works, even on the latest updates).
