I’m new here, but I’ve been 3D printing for around 9 years. I just picked up a P1S, and although I am very happy with the quality, I was under the impression that the AMS was compatible with TPU filaments.
That being said, in addition to the AMS, I also have a dry box for two additional spools. I made a printable adapter for the holes in the dry box to fit PTFE tubes. It works well with the 4-to-1 PTFE adapter, but I am a bit dismayed to know that there is presently no way to mix PETG and TPU 95A without intervention.
This brings me to my topic: A 3D printable extruder that attaches to virtually any dry box through a standard size fitting and connects to the AMS bus to communicate with the printer.
I have ideas about how this could be designed by dedicated members of the community. My expertise only goes so far, and while I’m good for some coding and 3D CAD modeling, hacking together anything more refined than a RAMPS board driving stepper motors from an Arduino that somehow learned to speak Bambu Bus and slapping it all in a chonky PETG box is beyond me.
I would love to see some form of mini-AMS peripheral that could be attached to any dry box, speaks the AMS bus language, and allows people to mix non-AMS filaments.
I doubt I’m alone.
