I am printing large parts that use multiple spools, and therefore am using the AMS filament backup option. I have a lot of leftover spools that I use up in my AMS, however the spools no longer switch in the order shown on screen. (If I start a print from slot #3 it switches to #1 after emptying) Could this be corrected? Otherwise I have to do a lot more swapping - introducing unnecessary moisture into the AMS. The green arrow is no longer indicative of the order that they get swapped.
For auto-refill, the AMS will use up whichever spool you select as your original source when printing; then go to the lowest numbered slot with the same filament, then the next higher numbered slot with the same filament, etc.
The graphic is a bit deceptive in some circumstances - namely, if you’re starting with either slot #2 or #3. The graphic is correct if you’re starting at #4 or #1.
In other words, it wouldn’t go 3 - 4 - 1 - 2, it will instead go 3 - 1 - 2 - 4.
Yes, I’m aware of that - I guess what I’m saying is that the PC(in this case) group rotation does not continue from A4 to A1 - as the green arrow suggests.
I feel like at one point it had actually worked in this rotation. - anybody else?
If I would start a print(big print) with say 3 spools that have 10% remaining in slots #1, #3, and #4. Slot #2 has 90% left over from a previous print. I want to use up the spools that I added, with 10% remaining, first.
At one time I’m pretty sure I could start it from slot #3 and it would rotate through each respectively, ending up at #2.
Currently, I’d have to remove the spool from slot #2 and drop it into slot #4, then fill slots #1-3 with the 10% remaining spools.
I would like to see the rotation order adjusted so it follows the arrow, else the arrow should have a starting point at A1 ending at A4, for the sake of clarity.
Like I mentioned before, I feel like this rotation actually used to follow the path of the arrow at some time. I also feel like we used to be able to adjust that order Is there a way to change the auto-refill sequence? - until we couldn’t…
Is there any reason why auto-refill can’t have a totally manual mode? Let me select the starting slot, and then whichever slots in whichever AMS I want it to sequence through? Leave it to me if I want the print to continue in the same color or not, as long as it is the same filament type with the same printing characteristics. Maybe I don’t care if something started out as black and turned yellow halfway through. Maybe I don’t want to unload an AMS 2 Pro for the next spool and would rather just drop the refill in the empty AMS-HT for now. Perhaps I just want the part, don’t care what color it is, and want to use up the filament. Just let me worry about it. Why isn’t this possible, what am I missing?
I know what you mean - I suppose it would add another layer of code and complexity, and I it probably isn’t a priority.
Just have to set the filament to all be the same type and color before you start your print, and then set them in the AMS in the order you like starting at #1 - #4.
If they we have a flat/linear graphic listing the order as left to right, instead of a circular one showing a rotation, it would make more sense.
