I’ve noticed an issue lately where my AMS2 is having trouble automatically loading spools that are getting low. I’ll hear the motor kick on to try to feed in the filament, but it’ll keep sorta stopping and retrying over and over like it can’t get it to spin. If I lift the spool and roll out some slack manually, it loads and runs completely fine, it’s just seems to have strange difficulty getting started like it’s not rolling the spool out enough at the beginning.
Load some weights into the hub center. I use batteries or printed hub centers loaded with weights. Lots of models available.

I’ll give it a try but the last time it happened it was more the spool was refusing to turn than it was just not being weighed down. Like the AMS rollers were rolling too slow, expecting the larger circumference of a larger roll. I have to lift the spool off the rollers to be able to give slack.

It doesn’t seem to be that the spool is lifting out of the chamber but I’m seeing it could be that there’s not enough weight to trigger the sensors properly which is probably what you’re suggesting there. I’ll go ahead and properly test with some chamber weights and see how it goes.
Weights seem to help, though less if the spool is nearly empty just because even more weight is needed. But yes I can confirm that when the spool is jamming like that if I press downward on it lightly it’ll load in correctly so I’ll go with some weights while spools get lighter and just be more careful if the spool is nearly empty.
