AMS Hub with no second AMS

Hello! Just a quick (potentially stupid) question.

I currently have a P1S with an AMS attached. I also now have a AMS Hub, but the second AMS is on its way. Can I:

  • install the AMS Hub,
  • reconnect just the one current AMS to it
  • leave that
  • then attach the second AMS when it arrives?

I didnt know if there were any issues with an AMS hub with only one AMS attached?

It works fine with just a single AMS.

Awesome thankyou! Now the problem is actually accepting that the printer is going to have some downtime whilst I install the thing.

Those five minutes will be difficult to handle, but brace yourself and you will cope.

Joking aside.

  • Switch off the printer
  • Unplug the data cable from the existing hub
  • Remove the PTFE tube from the input (regret not installing an easy to remove PTFE adapter ring earlier ^
  • Unscrew the existing hub on the back of the P1S
  • Place the AMS in its place and screw on with the new screws
  • Reinsert the PTFE tubes
  • Reinsert the data cable
  • Turn on the printer

It takes around 5 minutes excluding getting the printer into an accessible place.

When the next AMS arrives, switch off the printer, insert the data cable from the first AMS into the new AMS and insert the PTFE tube from the new AMS into the hub (remember the PTFE tube remover ring). Printer on - two minutes tops.

^ You can remove the tube once the device is off, consider printing the AMS hub PTFE tube remover rings so you can install them with the AMS hub

You don’t need the hub.
All you really needed was this part: Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter

The AMS buffer already supports 4 AMS.
I also learned this fact after purchasing a hub as well. :sweat_smile:
