I am seriously considering taking apart my AMS lite and doing a 3D printed modification to the whole system . Basically I’ll be using the model AMS lite 4.0. I was having a lot of trouble with my AMS not feeding filament in properly . Would I be wasting my time printing all that stuff out and changing my configuration for feeding filament into the system ?
The other option would be to just spend $300 us and get the AMS 2 Pro. I don’t really care about the heating aspect of the ams2 pro because I have a poly dryer . Some of the other functions that have changed in the new version of the AMS are appealing to me. But I could save a whole lot of money by printing out all the different components and rebuilding my AMS to a more space conscious configuration.
I don’t want to waste all kinds of filament for something that might not work as well as just buying up brand new thing but I don’t want to just discard the AMS lite. Does anyone have an opinion or other options that I might want to consider
The question is: What is the problem? Because if you rebuild it, you’re just reinstalling the problem? Or you buy the AMS 2 Pro and have the same problem? Is it due to the AMS itself, the spools, or a technical defect?
Example: If you buy filament on cheapest crumpled cardboard spool from the backyard dealer that fell off the truck ten times, then even a new AMS won’t help - or filament that is not supported by AMS.
, Actually it has more to do with accessibility and ease of loading. I had the AMS originally on the stand that it came with and sat beside the printer. I then moved it up to a top mount and accessing the back two spools was more difficult. The idea of using the model AMS lite 4.0 is that it gives me the opportunity to have a built-in dry box and have accessibility that mirrors the aMS and the AMS 2 Pro. The AMS 2 Pro would also give the drying capability built in but as I said in my prior post I do not need to have the drying capability i have a poly dryer.
My basic thought on this is that I am questioning whether or not it is worth it to 3D print all the different materials for a modified AMS lite or to buying a brand new AMS 2 Pro.
