The other port hasn’t been used by Bambu Lab, but has been used by other companies including Panda who use it to power LEDs and more.
I know about lights, but not anything else, but as you say and more I will have an internet hunt, unless you can point me in right direction. Most ideas seem just using slot too to power stuff, lights, external cameras etc, but nowt much else ive seen, but as i say, i will go on another hunt.

The panda branch has many limitations, even they point out 3 redundant ports. Seems like an expensive splitter with pass through for ams .
The panda touch looked interesting, but dont think they’ve got full functionality for recent bambu versions.
But you have given me some food for thought.

Completely agree, there’s a lot of trash out there and it ain’t getting better any time soon.
I know port two is a bus line not just power, as i have used it with AMS lite in there.
There must be something useful and helpful it can do, come on Bambu do something or release the source code for others to try.

You don’t have to throw away your AMS Lite if you upgrade to the AMS2 Pro. You just can’t use them together.
For instance, once you have the filament buffer for the AMS2, the process to switch from the AMS Lite to the AMS2 isn’t too bad:
- Unplug the cable going from the left buss port to the AMS Lite.
- On the printer go to Settings/AMS Options/AMS Type and select the AMS2 Pro. The printer will tell you it has to “swap the firmware” and should it proceed? Tell it yes.
- While the printer is thinking, unplug one PTFE tube from the Lite on the toolhead, and plug in the tube coming from the filament buffer.
- When the printer is done with the firmware dance, plug in the 4-pin cable from the filament buffer into the right buss port.
Reverse the process to switch from the AMS2 to the Lite. Don’t have both AMS plugged into the buss ports at the same time.
You can’t use a y-connector in the PTFE tube to have both printers connected at the same time. The AMS Lite can’t pull the filament back far enough to clear the path for the AMS 2 since the Lite only pulls back with a spring on the filament spool, not a motor.
Maybe not totally convenient, but doable. I have PLA in the AMS Lite and PETG in the AMS2 and wait until I have a few jobs for either filament type before I do a switch.
