I have an AMS Lite. Whenever I use the 250g/roll (the smaller ones) in the AMS Lite I keep getting filament is stuck/tangle errors. Why is that? Does anyone have this experience?
If I use the AMS Lite with the larger spools, everything is fine.

What spools are you using? Is the diameter significantly smaller?
That message pretty much means that the motors are working harder than they are supposed to.
It would also be useful to see pictures of the setup.
Whose filament are you talking about, some of the small rolls from off brands don’t have the tight tolerance better filament manufactures have; i .e. +/- 0.3mm. They are marketed as sample rolls, best used on the external spool, not an AMS. I have several speciality small rolls (i.e. wood and metallic) which I don’t use the AMS to fed them into the printer and never had an issue getting them to work.
Those spools usually are “curled” a little more than regular spools and sometimes feed error as their leading edge gets caught on fittings. But if yours are getting tangled midprint, after plastic has successfully started flowing, you might be running into real errors? Is the filament actually tangled/knotted on the spools?
I was referring to the diameter of the spool itself, not the filament on the spool.
To throw my guess into the mix: It’s probably not the spools, as these 250g spools should actually fit on the AMS Lite without any problems, since they have the same diameter. Of course there are exceptions! As already mentioned, a photo would be useful here.
I suspect something much simpler. When loading or changing the filament, either no filament clip was used, or the tension was not maintained. At some point, the filament must have become tangled. This is not immediately noticeable, of course, but it takes around 5 to 10 minutes of printing before the tangle becomes significant enough.
This happens more easily with the small spools because they are wound more loosely. Not loose, but less tight. But hey, maybe I’m totally wrong. ![]()
I was thinking that less likely because they implied that this is happening on more than one spool.
Unless of course they really dont know how to handle filament.
