AMS Load Filament Failure 260529

Hello Bambu Lab Forum,

A piece of filament is stuck in the AMS in the PTFE inside the AMS,


The PTFE tube has been removed from the front of the AMS but Bambu admits that the
PTFE tube at the back of the AMS, where the four tubes come together is not removeable.
Attempts to remove the blockage by inserting filament and wires thru the PTFE at the front of the AMS and thru the back of the machine will not budge the stuck ABS filament.

Bambu Lab support is very poor. The only way to reach Bambu Lab support is by email. There is no telephone tech support or chat. Bambu support readily admits that it takes two or three days by email. Support has been contacted several times by email. After three days they sometimes reply to the email (sometimes not) with an answer that either does not work or has nothing to do with the problem.

The only solution offered by Bambu support was disassembly or replacement of the AMS internal feeder unit. A replacement of AMS internal feeder unit was requested but no reply has been recieved. The ticket, details copied herewith below, opened was opened on May 6 2026 and is staill marked ‘pending’.

Two questions please:

  1. Is there anyone who has contacted Bambu support and not had completely abysmal experience?
  2. Is there anyway to remove the blockage in the AMS? Is the only solution buying a new $300 AMS?

The AMS 2 Pro comes with 4 PTFE replacements. Are you telling me that they can’t be replaced?

… those tubes are designed there to be replace. It can be removed - you’re probably not following the guide.

When this happened to me, I took some filament and I pushed it down the tube (from the normal end, and the filament pushed the piece of broken filament out the other end.

  • You can remove the front PTFE tube

  • You cannot remove the rear PTFE tube

  • You cannot find a latch

  • You cannot find a clip

  • You cannot find a collet

  • You cannot find a release button

Because there isn’t one.

This is not a mistake.
This is not you missing something.
This is the AMS 2 Pro design.

And the forum thread you’re reading is about the AMS 1.0, which does have removable rear PTFE tubes.
Your AMS 2 Pro does not.

Let’s reset to the correct facts.

:red_square: AMS 2 Pro — Rear PTFE Tubes Are NOT Removable

The AMS 2 Pro rear PTFE tubes:

  • Are factory‑installed

  • Are glued / heat‑staked / permanently seated

  • Are not user‑serviceable

  • Have no latch, no collet, no release mechanism

  • Cannot be removed without destroying the manifold

This is why you cannot pull them out.

This is why you cannot find a latch.

This is why nothing you try works.

This is why the forum advice doesn’t match your machine.

:star: So what does this mean for your jam?

It means:

:check_mark: The jam is inside the rear manifold block

and

:check_mark: You cannot clear it by removing the rear PTFE tube

because

:check_mark: The tube cannot be removed.

This is exactly the failure mode that requires Bambu Lab service.

There is a black lozenge shaped button at the near and above the central internal PTFE hub.
But that internal filament routing block. and will release a physical jam.
So I think there is nu way of removing the PTFE tube central internal PTFE hub.

But Kip says the PTFE tubes at the central internal PTFE hub can be removed. I have looked , collets and release buttons but there do not seem to be any. And PTFE tubes will not budge. How did you get the PTFE tubes at central internal PTFE hub to release?

The 4 PTFE tubes going to the internal hub are removable. There are no tubes inside the hub but it can be disassembled for cleaning. The wiki has detailed instructions.

Get a tweezer or plier push the black ring and pull the PTFE out.

I had some old filament break and leave a shard in the 4-to-1 collector in the bottom of an AMS (not the AMS2).

There isn’t a release button per se, but if the AMS2 is like the original AMS, you should be able to see part of a fairly thick spring that I think makes sure the filament contacts the odometer. It is possible to move the part the spring is tensioning to release the grip on the filament and use a fresh / non-brittle piece of filament to push the broken piece on out.

It’s been a couple of weeks and I didn’t take photos but I think I pushed the filament out from the end of the short tube that connects to the AMS feed mechanism. (Disconnected from the feed mechanism though.) Normal direction when filament is being fed from the AMS to avoid the 1 to 4 ambiguity.

But figuring out where to press on the mechanism to release spring tension was the harder step. It takes a bit of sussing to figure it out but did work. Not the AMS2 though so may or may not be applicable.

Sounds stupid but push the tube into the hub as you push the black wings of the collet into the hub (same direction) you should feel the black collet (the thing with wings) move forward towards the hub then you can pull the tube backwards and out but keep pushing the collet inwards

If your intent is to replace the PTFE tube, snip it and get it in a better situation to be able to push the pneumatic fittings to release it. That hub has some “floating” looking tabs in front of it that are in fact actually the pneumatic releases. PTFE, and these small runs in particular, are replacable and intended to be due to wear

The entire part of what you are sharing here smell very strongly to AI generated text.

Although AI can be helpful it is hallucinating tremendously here.

I was sat here wondering what it was on about since I have removed all PTFE Tubes from my own AMS 2 pros a few times due to filament breakage. I mean ok the rear one is a bit weird since the removal button isn’t the most obvious thing in the world but it’s not all that hard :sweat_smile:

Yes, support is slow and I imagine Its a combination of being understaffed and a high volume of tickets.

I’m a little more mechanically inclined and would dismantle the AMS hub to see how that might get the filament out.

As for alternatives, the AMS-HT works perfectly and when my AMS started faulting I bought two more AMS-HTs to add to the one I already have. It’s more expensive than a single AMS 2 Pro, but much more versatile. I can dry engineering materials and I am not subject to drying four filaments at once at the same temperature.

I had a similar problem with my AMS 2 Pro but on the left most position. I had great support from Bambu Lab. Yes they are busy but they go back to me in a couple of days. They sent me a replacement AMS filament Hub at no cost under warranty, which fixed the problem. Bambu has a whole series of videos about disassembly of the AMS and I found it pretty easy to work on, just go slow, take your time. If you get confused or have trouble ask someone here on the forum.
