Ams slot 1 not feeding properly in new X2D combo

Sure I’ve seen that this is an issue but can’t recall where I saw it but the AMS slot 1 just doesn’t want to take the filament (bambu PLA) unless you manually give it a hand by pushing slightly. Is anybody else having the same issue. Printer is new as of this post date…

Thanks for the reply. No there was no error message I just heard a noise like you get when the extruder is jammed and clicking except louder. At first I panicked and thought that the belts where slipping but couldn’t see anything, then I realized it was coming from the AMS so i cancelled the print rewound the roll and tried again. It did exactly the same but this time I pressed the button and gave it a little help and then it worked, don’t want to be doing that every time on a brand new system!!

So it sounds to me like you’ll have to do exactly what @CEREALness did, get a replacement internal hub for your AMS under warranty. I’d start the process with Bambu, you’re welcome to link these threads to them when you create your case.

I am having the same exact issue and have opened a ticket with Bambu. Slot 1 will jam from time to time with a variety of filaments. I will get an error message confirming it is jammed. Bambu has some steps they are asking me to take, which I already know the answer to but will do them anyway and respond. Just haven’t had an opportunity. I suspect I will need the replacement hub. What’s interesting is that I originally had purchased the P2S combo a little over a week before the X2D was released and never had that issue with slot 1 on that AMS 2 Pro.

It does seem to be a common problem, been looking on YouTube and a few people reviewing the X2D have had the same issue and the strange thing is they all mention slot one :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

This is ridiculous. This ams has barely any hours on it. I had to send my first p2s back and now after buying the X2D this…?

Dude Same here. My p2s is rock solid. I have maybe 500 hours on the AMS. WTF?

I can’t figure out how to create a new post but my filament track switcher keeps feeding filament to the aux nozzle instead of the primary. When I tell it to feed to the aux nozzle, it works fine but if I tell it to feed to the main nozzle, it still tracks it to the aux. Then I get an error about the AMS motor meeting resistance…

Sounds like a lot of new X2D owners are having the same problem with the AMS hub component. I took mine apart to look for clogs and didn’t see anything. Upon closer inspection, this is what I’m thinking:

Top wheel, looks perfectly centered:

Bottom wheel, not quite so centered:

Imagine AMS slot one feeding in from the left. It’s hitting the right edge of this gripper wheel and getting stuck. At least that’s what I’m going with. It makes it so you can’t do a 4-color print without hovering over the printer. And even then, I get frequent warnings from the AI assistant that the filaments are all experiencing high tension, to the point where it stops printing and makes me check for overlapped filaments on the spools, which there are none.

I have yet to get a single print to finish without some type of intervention. Ugh!

I’m going wild with mine. In the middle of putting my AMS(s) on the front of a pallet rack, aka, way in front of the machine which should be the worst way to mount it.

What I’ve always found is if your tubes are moving (aka floating in the air) and too long while filament is being bed, the AMS hates that.

If your setup has gradual, firm bends that stay in shape due to being held with clips, against the wall, etc., the AMS has no issues.

For those that have AMS tubes just hanging out with no supports.., there’s things work a treat keeping th tubes true

Hmm, you may be on to something. My aux feeder keeps stopping mid-print due to tension problems. I finally swapped out the tube for the right nozzle with a longer one, with much more room to make the bend not so sharp, and it made it worse. Could it be due to it being too loose that it flaps around? Maybe so. I put back a tube that’s maybe 5-10mm shorter than the original with a slightly sharper bend and no play and now it’s working like a champ.

So maybe it’s not the sharp bend that the motor doesn’t like, but rather that it prefers? Then again, the filament might still matter. I’m using a Sunlu PLA+2.0 spool right now.

If the filament is NOT making it out of the back of the AMS2, and seems to be getting stuck in the internal hub, you should check this repair by adding shims/spacers to the hub: AMS 2 Pro - Issues with loading filament into Extruder - #427 by juergen.s
