One of my two AMS units started spitting out faults about unable to rewind filament and so tore it down to see if it had some obvious issues. Did not find anything. Ran filament through the various feeds and no faults, nothing seemed broken but it does not want to feed filament.
It looks to have acting up around the 40% - 50% complete mark but it behaved as if it was feeding filament even though it was not
What is the most common point of failure in an AMS??
I was printing some herringbone gears so actual filament laid down was about 50% but it ran from 50% —> 99% while not laying down an inch of filament.
Are there issues with that motor failing? when I reassembled the AMS it just started making a racket to the point I opted to just take that second AMS out of service and just use the original AMS.
I would have expected it to generate an alarm because no filament was being laid down from 45% to 99% and it faulted off-line when it tried to unload the filament spool with fault saying unable to unload filament or something along those lines.
So from 50% to 99% with toolhead zipping around with no filament being laid down and fault was really in post-print processing.
