AMS vs Phantom Extruder Jam

i had a massive clog in my bambu p1 extruder yesterday. its actually warped the extruder case and i had to use a hot stick (1.5mm allen key) at various stages of disassembly to free up the tensioner. managed to clear it and print… it does take a little extra push to get filament to load, and there is some residue of the cleared clog filament visible when looking down thru the top of the filament channel…but it prints flawlessly on a single spool.

However, there are 2 lingering issues

  1. When unloading and loading single spools of filament, the system never registers that filament has been pulled back (when it has) and the only way to load new filament
Even whemn BambuStudio finally asks if I’m done unloadinbg, the printer still prompts me to pull back.

  2. When connecting my brand new, never used AMS system telling me i have a blocked extruder…

I’m going to buy a new extruder this week. Was planning on it anyway to level up my matertials game…

I’m just interested to know if anybody has any thoughts or advice that may help me get this AMS working in the meantime.

Thanks.

I have had better luck with AMS problems using the Bambu Handy phone app than trying to accomplish the same task in Bambu Studio.
Enough so that if the AMS is acting up, I immediately reach for my phone and don’t waste energy trying to get the AMS to go in Studio.

I’m wondering if the filament sensor wasn’t damaged a little when you inserted the tool to unclog. One will come with the filament sensor, so there’s that.

It may not have, you’ll have an answer soon enough though. Let us know.

Thanks for the replies.

If ever it was likely that I damaged something its now.

I am actually amazed that I can run the printer at all.

I’ll report back. Hoping that with new and upgraded extruder, AMS comes online.
