I’m trying to find out if the H2C can run a multicolor print job using two AMS units and a track switch. I want to use PLA silk with regular PLA. I have read that I can set up a pause on the correct layer and then externally feed the PLA silk. If this can be done, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could explain the steps required for the H2C.
Unfortunately, as soon as you use the filament track switch, you can’t use an external spool anymore.
But if you already have two AMS, why not put the PLA Silk in one of the AMS slots? Or do you use all slots already?
I’m able to use PLA Silk + in the AMS, but I get an error that pops up on the H2C control panel saying I can’t use the PLA Silk in the AMS.
Ah, I wasn’t aware of that. I don’t get that warning with 3rd party silk filament, even when I set the filament to BambuLab Silk. And it worked flawlessly so far. I’m very surprised about that message and probably would just ignore or disable that message. But of course there might be a point to it and I don’t want to be blamed when you have to disassemble everything to clear out broken filament ![]()

I am quite new here, just bought an H2S with AMS2pro.
I would like to use TPU as well, but it shouldn’t be used with AMS - at least not the soft ones.
This external spool approach looks handy. I wonder what to be done from software-settings perspective? Can the AMS sty plugged in (6-pin cable)? Anything I need to configure in the settings when feeding directly from the external spool?

Yes, the AMS can stay plugged, you only have to unplug the PTFE tube from the printer inlet and instead attach an open tube where you feed the external filament. On the printer, there is a page for filament management where you can select the external spool and load the filament. The onscreen instructions guide you through the loading sequence. In Bambu Studio, you can select external spool instead of one of the AMS slots when sending the print.
If you don’t like unplugging the tube, you can either go the official way and insert a 4in1 adapter before the printer inlet, so that both, AMS and tube for external spool can stay attached. Or you use a model like this:

Which printer inlet do I remove to feed externally? The upper or lower Inlet? I have an h2c printer.
Neither. You feed a third PTFE tube into the printer through the rubber TPU inlet.
Disconnect whichever side of the extruder you want to run the external tube to and connect the new PTFE tube to it.
