I am brand new to printing and just got my P1S and AMS2 Pro combo a few weeks ago. Probably have done a grand total of 20 prints.
I am using PLA Basic from Bambu.
Last night, I was doing a 4 color print and half way through, the AMS paused and threw an error that #4 slot could was unable to be pulled (I know, I know I should have take better note of the error message, but I only got it once). I unloaded and reloaded the spool and the print continued without error.
Since then, the following has occurred:
- This morning, slot 4 was showing empty even though it was loaded.
- I tried to reload it a few times but could not get it to recognize the spool.
- The guide gear in the feeder unit now has green deposits on it from the problem spool.
- Tried a different spool in slot 4 and it eventually was recognized, but it took a couple tries.
- I was able to get the problem spool recognized in a different slot, but it took a couple tries.
- Went back to problem spool in slot 4, and it still will not load and it gets “chewed up” a bit when trying to load. (See picture)
I have read that the issue may be related to a spool nearing the end of the filament (which the problem spool was).
My questions are:
- Any ideas what may be causing the spool not to load and how to fix it?
- Now that the gear seems gunked up, how can I clean that out?
Below are pics that hopefully help. Note the green deposits on the gear and the “chewed up” filament on the spool. You can also see that the spool is low, but not right near the end.
Note: I did cut the green filament for my testing, but it got chewed up when I tried reloading in slot 4. I left it that was for the picture.
