I think the Bambu AMS2 Pro could be improved immensely with a firmware update that would do one simple thing. Allow drying with filament in the feeder tubes, if done it would simply not rotate the spools, this would allow for drying to be done while printing and eliminate a lot of the complaints people have about not being able to do this.

on at least my H2D, you can for sure de select the rotate rolls check mark when you turn on drying… I almost never pull it back.
On my P2S and AMS2 I’m drying the filament right now without taking it out.
100% agree. Bambu needs to allow this functionality. Maybe place it behind ‘developer mode’ aka use at your own risk.
So it is possible… likely coming then, for all, not sure why it wouldn’t already be there …
Depends on which machine and AMS firmware running. X1C PETG yes, PLA no, H2D yes on both.
Normally when you print directly from a dryer the filament is being pulled by the extruder gears on the printer or a bowden setup. The filament has plenty of time to cool down before it gets to those gears. With the AMS 2 Pro the motor and the gears pulling the filament are right there inside the heated environment and the filament is soft enough it can strip out on the gears.
That’s Bambu’s stance on it. With many people already using the Sunlu AMS dryer we should be able to get some real world takes on that soon. There’s already several videos on it out but I haven’t checked them out yet.
I agree to a point but if they have made it available with several of their printers it doesn’t make sense that it wouldn’t be available to all… And all they would have to do is put a disclaimer saying not recommended for such and such filament, etc. Would get rid of all of the people that are mad and going on about not being able to do it :).
I have the AMS heaters on all of my P1S’s and so far have not seen an issue at all, but can’t say that I print while drying all the time either…
We might be talking about different things. Printing while drying isn’t available on any of the Bambu printers (from the same AMS that’s drying).
If you don’t check the box that allows rotating of the spools, you can leave the filaments in the feeder tubes. And b.t.w.: it is possible to print from the AMS 2 Pro while there is filament drying in an AMS-HT.
